I am working a new application...well actually a series of applications for
my company. They want internal users to be able to go to a site and
everything regarding security is transparent, however we will have brokers
and customers that also need to connect and will require a username and
password. In this case we were going to store their credentials in a SQL
database. Internal users will have the ability to access the same resources...

I have an application where the authentication is based off another site (custom portal). The portal authenticates the user(s). Then, when they select an application, they are routed to the application's URL (different domain, different server). When they try to bypass the portal, I need to capture the URL they requested, route them to the portal (letting it authenticate them), and then send them back to the original requesting page.
My...

Hi,
I've created a little site for my sports club. In the root folder there are
pages that are viewable by every anonymous user but at a certain subfolder
my administration pages should be protected by forms authentication.
When I create forms authentication at root level it works but when I move my
code up to the subfolder I get this error:
Server Error in '/TestProjects/FormsAuthenticationTestingArea' Application.

Hi,
After I gave up on tracking user sessions through the session object
(Session_OnEnd is still not triggered by Abandon() even with mode=InProc and
me manipulating session variables; in a new test project it is only
triggered the first time, it really sucks pretty bad) I started looking at
alternatives and I found FormsAuthentication. I just implemened it and it
seems very nice. But, of course, there is a problem with it (it wouldn't...

Hi,
I am trying to create a site that will be used by both employees and external users, so both types of users trying to access the same pages.
In the case of an employee on the intranet,
authentication needs to occur via Windows integrated authentication.
If the user is NOT on the intranet (external user), the user needs to be sent to a Forms login page.
Any ideas ?

Something strange is happening on my web site since my hosting provider
upgraded to Server 2003 a few weeks ago.
I use forms authentication in my asp.net application, with essentially
the following c# code-behind on my login page:
If (FormsAuthentication.Authenticate(UserName.Text, UserPass.Text))
FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(UserName.Text, true);
Note that the createPersistentCookie parameter is set to true.

I have a new project which is a web site used by Internal and External users
(login required users) and public users (no login required users). On
internal users, all users login network using Windows or Forms
authentication login. External users will use Forms authentication login.
Both authentications would be cookie or cookieless. How to config the
web.config file meet the requirements?

Hi All,
When using forms authentication with IIS 6.0, I can create a user and log in
the user. But the LoginStatus control states that the user is logged out.
When running the same app using the file system and the Visual Studio web
server the LoginStatus page functions properly by displaying the LoggedIn
template.
Any help is appreciated.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
