You can't. ViewState is handled on the server, not on the client.

Hi,
You can set that textbox won't get any viewstate by setting
enableviewstate property to false. this can be done only on the server
side.

In my user contol I am creating a set of dropdownlists. Each list is created based on input from the other lists. The problem I am having is setting the selected index on the lists. If someone changes box1, I want to set the selected index in box2 = 0. When I do this, I dont get an error, but when the page loads, it still has the selected value and not 0. It seems that it is getting the selected value from the viewstate

Hi all I have the following code in the page load event. The function in this code works get to populate the 4 dropdownlists on my webform. I have enabled postback because when the user selects from one of the boxes it should filter the other dropdownlists according to the data selected in the one causing the postback. However, when the post back runs the drop down boxes are empty and there are no values in the list. I realize that this...

I'm not sure I understand the use of the ViewState. Do I understand correctly that values of controls are automatically held in a hidden control called ViewState? If so, then why can't we get them, or how do we get that value? I always have to set the ViewState("FirstName") = txtBox.text myself before a postback is done, otherwise, the value of ViewState("FirstName") is always empty; there doesn't seem to be a way to retrieve that...

Hello all, I am experimenting with the repeater control and ran into something that I wasn't expecting. I would appreciate if the experts can confirm or correct my understanding. Here is a fragment of a very simple page that I wrote that will drill down into the displayed item. The result is to be display on the same page so that the user can keep on drilling down:

Hello, I have a page with two link buttons. When I click on the first one I call server.execute("target.aspx") to view target.aspx on the original page. Then I click on the second link button and in this case I redirect to another page, HOWEVER, I get Invalid ViewState exception. I know the problem stems from server.execute but don't know why. Any Ideas? Thank you.

I have a web user control that contains a serializable class. I persist this class in viewstate, but on postback, the viewstate is null. Is this behavior by design? This technique works fine on regular pages -- just not in a control. Is the main page's viewstate interfering with the control's viewstate? Thanks,

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
