Hello all,
I am trying to ascertain the difference, in terms of access and
privileges, between the Internet Guest User Account (IUSR_machinename,
where machinename is the name of your computer) vs. the ASPNET user
(ASP.NET machine account).
If you write a web application, you can configure it via its
web.config file. One of the things you can do is set the impersonate
attribute in the <identity> tag. If you set it (impersonate) to...

Hi,
I'm running ClrProfiler for the first time to profile my web app, and it
keeps getting stuck at this msg box: "Waiting for Asp.net to start common
language runtime - this is the time to load your test page." even after I
launched my app and aspnet_wp.exe is running.
Do you know what I need to do to fix it? I also found some old post, a
person mentioned that I need to make sure I need to
run my aspnet with system account instead. ...

Windows Server 2003 is supposed to include Framework 1.1 right. I don't
have it here but have reports that the web is not running.
The users say that the %COMPUTERNAME%\ASPNET user doesn't exist.
Questions:
1. is this user replaced by the %COMPUTERNAME%\NETWORK SERVICE user in
Windows 2003 Server (IIS6)?
2. if the ASPNET user still needed to run .NET apps and it's missing, how
would you add to a Windows 2003 Server box?

I have XP HOME installed on one of my 3 computers. I have WIN 2k Pro and XP
Pro on each of the other two. ASPNET is not installed on these computers.
For some reason ASPNET is showing up on the one with XP HOME. I do not
recall how this could have happened.
I would like to remove it from my computer... according to an
ASPNETSetup.log I discovered it was installed a couple days ago.
Can anyone out there help me with this?

After installing MSDE2000 on my WIN XP machine, I created the database from
Access using the upsizing wizard. Although the tables can be seen from the
server explorer, I keep on encountering problem in building my web
application. The error message is "Login failed for user\ASPNET".
I've tried to supply/not supply a username and password at the SQL server
login but both methods could not work. I did not create a username and
password...

My application attempts to connect to an SQL Server database as name ASPNET
and Login Name SERVERNAME/ASPNET in response to these commands:
SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection("Data Source=(local);Initial

myConnection.Open();
However, the user of this database is ASPNET. I can't create a user ASPNET
with a login name SERVERNAME/ASPNET, SQL Enterprise Manager always keeps the
name...

I am using WSE 3.0 with Visual Studio 2005, specifically I'm using Kerberos
authentication and passing Kerberos ticket from Presentation Tier (VSTO.2005
client) to Server Tier through our Web Services (based on WSE 3.0).
Having our WSE 3.0-WebService over Windows Server 2003, everything works
great, but, over Windows XP, I have a problem (which is documented in WSE
3.0 help) but its workaround does not work properly (at least with my...

Hi guys
I've just noticed I don't have an ASPNET user account running on either my
Workstation or Server (both running .net2.0, workstation has vs2005 pro).
Simple question... should it be there with .net2, and if so how can I create
it!?

I created a walkthrough and couldn't connect to my sql server. I looked up
the problem and MSDN told me to create an ASPNET "User" in SQL Svr.
It worked, but is that right? Do I have to do that for web projects. How
does that user relate to the other users? I'm not seeing the logic. I
thought maybe a "Role" that I could assign all users to would make more
sense, but why have an ASPNET in SQL at all?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
