How can I capture (i.e., write an event handler) that runs
after I press the "Enter" key? I'd like to prevent a Web
Form from being submitted when the "Enter" key is pressed
following the typing of some characters into a TextBox
(ASP.NET) of a Web Form.

I can get data from a client-side assembly to the server in two manual
steps, but I need to be able to do it in one step.
Step 1:
The user presses the manually coded "Step 1" button, which calls the
JavaScript function.
The function copies the data into a server textbox control.
Step 2:
The user presses the VS generated "Step 2" button, which calls the

In limiting textbox input to 500 characters I would like to include a
dynamic count of characters input while the user is typing into a textbox.
This would obviously be a client side control, possibly a custom validator
with a function written in javascript.
Has anyone done this? Does someone have an example?

I have a form for entering a user's address and all fields have a required
validating control associated with them and the error msg for each field
displays right next to it. The normal behavior is that the error msg
doesn't show unit the use hits the submit button or the user enters data and
moves the focus to another control so the field becomes dirty. So far so
good. Now when the user goes back to that control and starts to input data...

Hi,
Can anyone tell me why in the code below, the call to ClearChildViewState()
has no effect?
To paraphrase the code: I'm using view state. I have a textbox and a submit
button (and a label that can be ignored). When I press the button the first
time, the click handler hides the textbox. Pressing the button a second time
unhides the textbox. The text box is maintaining its value when hidden via
view state. (The value is NOT being...

I have a WebForm that has, among other things, the following:
ASP:TEXTBOX txtCorrectedName
ASP:LISTBOX lstCorrectedNames
The list box gets loaded with all the "correct" names of cities, and the
textbox is blank. The idea is that the user can pull up a record with bogus
address info, and correct the name of the city by either typing a new name
in the textbox, or choosing one from the list.

representing a hour of the day and an object (book ..), and finally click on
the submit button to insert that reservation in the database.
My problem is: there...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
