Hello all,
I am fairly new to .NET, but not to VB. I have a couple of questions.
1. Shared Code Base
I have a solution with several different applications within it. Many of
the applications perform similar functions, such as checking data values for
nulls, or building formatted strings. I have created a module (General
Functions.vb) to contain these. However, when I add the module as an
existing file to my project, .NET's IDE...

A week or so ago, I needed to find the HTTP_REFERER environment
variable to check and see if a user is coming from a certain website:
If Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_REFERER")_
= "http://localhost/mydir/page1.aspx" then
response.write "Click on a menu choice"
else
response.write "check back later

Hello,
I have a few rather urgent questions that I hope someone can help with (I
need to figure this out prior to a meeting tomorrow.) First, a bit of
background: The company I work for is developing a web-based application,
one part of which involves allowing the user the ability to page through
transaction "history" information.
The _summary_ history table will have the following fields: ServiceName,
Date, User-Ref1, User-Ref2,...

I was having a discussion with somebody and I think it's just religious.
We are developing some software and he was looking through my code.
I use if (pointer) to test a pointer for NULL. He says it must be if
(p!=NULL).
The arguments are that it's more readable and that if (p) is not portable.
I said the first is a style issue and that I think if(p) is more readable
and that the second is plain wrong.
So, is he right about the...

Hi everyone.
I've been working with VB6 for a while now, I'm feeling pretty damn
confortable with it, but find myself wondering about VB.NET and web
applications. So I thought I'd get my feet wet.
Well - let me tell ya - there's a whole lotta stuff that I need to teach
myself. I have a whole slew of questions - to many and propbably just too
basic to go into here - so I am hoping that someone out there can suggest a
book that I can pick...

Hi everyone, I am reading B.S. 's TC++PL (special edition).
When I read chapter 11 Operator Overloading, I have two questions.
1. In subsection 11.2.2 paragraph 1, B.S. wrote "In particular,
operator =, operator, operator(), and operator-must be nonstatic
member function; this ensures that their first operands will be
lvalues". I know that these operators must be nonstatic member
functions, but why this ensure their first operands will...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
