Import excel data into SQL server -- ASP.net, C#, DTS -- how??

I want to set up the import of data from an excel file into SQL Server
from my ASP.net (C#) application. The user will select the file that
needs importing.
I want to use DTS to do this. I was thinking of calling the DTS and
passing it the name of the file to import.
Is this the best way to do it? Any code available anywhere?

Some of cells in excel are actually empty, they become NULL fields after importing into the SQL server. Actually I want these fields are empty string instead of NULL. Does SQL server has any approach to make these fields to be empty string instead of NULL when importing?? Or is there any store procedure exist for converting the...

Hi, I am having trouble importing data from an excel spreadsheet into MS SQL Server 2000 using DTS Wizard. The DTS import process is successfull, no errors, but only 50 rows of approx. 1500 rows of data are imported. I tried to remove 20 rows in the excel spreadsheet in the interval row 0-50. When i later ran the import, only 30 rows were imported. I deleted almost every row in the interval 0-50, with the result of the import having 0...

Hello: Thanks for your quick response. I'm trying to import a new Excel file into an A2K table and it's truncating the data. One of the Excel columns is a text field that can be up to 2000 characters. When I import it into A2K, that field is truncated. If I try to inport the file into an EXISTING table that I define myself where that field is a MEMO field, the import crashes.

Hi All. I'm looking for any help or sample code that can show me how to make a file import wizard in ASP.NET (VB preferred) like the one that MS Access uses. I'm working on a web site where the user has the ability to upload a file (.txt or .csv). The data in the file may be comma delaminated, tab delaminated, fixed width etc (we don't know). What I'd like to create is something like MS Access uses to import an Excel file into the...

In MS Excel, the ability exists to run a "web query." This function is accessed via the data menu's import external data option. The web query wizard accepts a URL address, and then is able to import the data from that address into an excel worksheet. What I would like to do is use SSIS to import data from the same web site. In other words, I now use Excel's web query functionality to import data from a website with a url of xyz.asp. ...

Hi, I easily ported a .Net 2.0 c# app to x64, but there is one major problem left: the app imports excel data via OleDB, and there are no Jet drivers and no ODBC divers (other than SQL Server) available for 64 bit apps on the x64 platform. I have x64, Sql Server (must support 2000 and 2005) and Excel sheets (must be able to import mixed mode data), can someone point me into a direction to get this solved without too much trouble?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
