Excel to ASP , work sheet not in correct fromat

3 New Member
hi guys,
can any one help i am looking for a possible solution in ASP, where user puts an excel file into a folder, the file name is obviously unknown to scripts and then i need to iterate through the worksheet and its coulombs without knowing the name of the file or its worksheet.

i know standard solution, establishes the connection to excel already on the server and you just need to give the file name and worksheet that you are concerned with, but what if you just specify the folder and what come may sort of thing ...................

another problem with those excel files.......is that they are not in standard format like name ranges specified on the worksheet........so in some files the data start way down from fourth or fifth row having blank rows before the actual columbs start .........
is there any work around, where scripts handle this inconsistency.......

many thanks for you suggestions in advance

You can easily list all of the files in a folder using the scripting.filesystemobject, and use those names to decide which files to open. Look it up and if it gives you any trouble, let me know.

deciding which worksheet to open or which line to start on might be harder, but I haven't tried working with excel files that much, so I'm not even sure where I would start.
