you don need to connect your form to your sql db but infact you have to first submit the form on another page with a .asp extention and get the form values there and store them into diff variables and then run a query to save that form data you might have to show your code for that so that yo will be guided in the right way

John,

w3schools has a good tutorial, notice that you will need a dsn connection to connect to a sql server db. They do mention dsn connections briefly, and explain how to set one up for an access db, the steps are basically the same and shouldn't give you any trouble. If it does give you trouble, ask again and I will try to help you out.

I am working on an ASP page that writes to several databases, ranging from MDBs to x-base. One of the tasks involves using an existing highest value from the DB and incrementing it before inserting a new record. I am using Application.Lock and .Unlock together with an application variable to negotiate access to the DB routine to one session (user) at a time. This is to ensure that the ID numbers are cleanly incremented, and that no...

I have a win 2000 database of autographs and scanned photos. They are in the SAME directory. In the table, my "ImagePath" text field shows JUST the image name (i.e. "blank.jpg"). I have an image field that links to the ImagePath field. But it does not display in the form. I go in and delete the image field and add it back in and link it to the "blank.jpg" file (its a dummy jpg that says "Not Avail"). Then I make sure it is linked and not...

Hi, All the records in my database will contain at least one picture. At the moment all the images are part of the database as ole objects although the database is way to big and there is only 12 records in it. I have been reading about linking images into the database and i would like to use the method linking via code this way the database will be as small as possible.

Hi, I've used information on these newsgroups to build many pages. So I thought that now that I have my script working (something that I've been working on for about a week), I should post it so that it may help others. If posting this script is against the rules in this group then please accept my appologies. I developped this script so that I can add and remove rows in a table in which I have various input fields and I would use the...

I'm a novice at coding and cannot get the script below to work I'm receiving an Error 500 in the web browser when trying to run this script. The site is www.murraywebs.com and the link is 'Retrieve Password' under the logon form. the idea is to submit an email address and the password is emailed to the user. (a very "basic" but common function of user management systems). The script(s) I'm using are based on...

Note: You may skip to the end of the article if all you want is the perl code. Introduction Many websites have a form or a link you can use to download a file. You click a form button or click on a link and after a moment or two a file download dialog box pops-up in your web browser and prompts you for some instructions, such as “open” or “save“. I’m going to show you how to do that using a perl script. What You Need Any recent...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
