There is no need to even try. Use a DSNless connection string:
Either:
Provider=Micros oft.Jet.OLEDB.4 .0;Data Source=C:\mydat abase.mdb

Or, for Access 2007:
Provider=Micros oft.ACE.OLEDB.1 2.0;Data
Source=C:\myFol der\myAccess200 7file.accdb

I am developing a website in ASP that connects to a Sybase database. However, when I try to open a connection to the database the page will not load. The script does not timeout, nor the connection. Further, the Sybase server shows no connection. Because the page is hanging I am unable, with my limited knowledge, to query the error collection. After many tries I will get an error page ...HTTP 403.9 Access forbidden: Too many users are...

Hello All, After reading in this group about the preference for connecting to a SQL Server using a connection string instead of a DSN file, I have done just that. BUT, I cannot update my data. I have gone back and forth between using a DSN file and a DSN-less connection string and I have found the following issue. When I utilize the DSN file to create the link, there is a step where it asks me to identify a unique key for the file. If I...

I have no idea what is going on. I have a Login screen where someone types in their login information and this populates a datagrid based off of the login. Works great in debug and test through VS, however, when I change to release and put it out on the web it fails giving me the following error message The underlying connection was closed. Could not establish a trust relationship with the remote server.

Hi: My host will not allow me use a trusted connection or make registry setting, so I'm stuck trying find a way to hide connection string which will be stored in web.config file. If I encrypt string externally, can it be used in it's encrypted form to connect to SQL Server? If I decrypt back to string for use in connection string during runtime, I have to supply a key. If I do that, hacker could use key to break encryption. How do I...

I then moved the database to my C drive, created the new connection and used it in my app. When opening the database, the...

Hello, I have developed a web application that connects to 2 different database servers. The connection strings with db username + password are stored in web.config file. After a code review, one developer suggested that it's a security flaw; therefore connection strings should be kept somewhere else or encrypted. My argument is that web.config file is protected by IIS and Windows security which is the case. And another argument is that...

I am migrating from VB6/Access to Visual Basic and SQL Express. I have success writing test code on my local machine and am now setting up tests for deployment to a server. I have installed SQL Express on a Windows 2003 Server. I can connect and create databases on the Remote Server from my local machine using SQL Management Express, so I know Remote Access is working. However, I am unable to connect using a connection string within...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
