Hi.
My problem:
How can I make sure that a Python process does not use more that 30% of
the CPU at any time. I only want that the process never uses more, but
I don't want the process being killed when it reaches the limit (like
it can be done with resource module).
Can you help me?

Hello,
I'm exploring why one of my C# .NET apps has "high" memory usage, and
whether I can reduce the memory usage.
I have an app that wakes up and processes text files into a database
periodically. What happens, is that the app reads the contents of a
text file line by line into an ArrayList. Each element of the ArrayList
is a string representing a record from the file. The ArrayList is then
processed, and the arraylist goes out of...

SQL Server 2000 SP3 on a Dell dual 2.4GHz Xeon box 3GB RAM Windows 2K
SP4. Two aplication dbs, each less than 2GB in size.
Had a problem where we would run Solomon queries and what not against
the box. It had 2GB RAM, and sqlserv.exe would take up to 1.85GB of
RAM, exhausting the physical RAM on the box. SQL would choke and the
Solomon users would have problems, and I would have to restart the SQL
service.
I added another GB of...

Having fixed a memory leak (not the leak of a Python reference, some
other stuff I wasn't properly freeing in certain cases) in a C-coded
extension I maintain, I need a way to test that the leak is indeed
fixed. Being in a hurry, I originally used a q&d hack...:
if sys.platform in ('linux2', 'darwin'):
def _memsize():
""" this function tries to return a measurement of how much memory
this process is consuming, in some arbitrary unit...

Dear Authorities:
Is there a limit as to the size of XML file that can be safely sent in a Web
Service as parameter? Realizing that XML is just a string, how many
characters can be safely transmitted to a Web Service? Or is there NO
limit?
Someone should know the answer to this question? Please reply.
Sincerely,

I wrote a program that takes an XML file into memory using Minidom. I
found out that the XML document is 10gb.
I clearly need SAX or something else?
Any suggestions on what that something else is? Is it hard to convert
the code from DOM to SAX?

List<string> effectList = new List<string>();
effectList.Clear();

If there are so many calls, I should save as much memory as I can.

Hello,
I have an issue with some code I am updating:
An entire file is loaded into a memory stream then that memory stream uses
its WriteTo method to write to the responses output stream. With larger
files (250 mb) I get a system out of memory exception because the whole file
is loaded into RAM.
I need to modify this so the file is buffered into the output stream (maybe

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
