I have an online SQL Server database provided by an ISP. I do not have
permission to create a backup device and I understand this is normal
practice.
I am not using Enterprise Manager to administer the online database.
I know I can back up the structure of the database using SQL
scripts.
My question is:

Hi.
I have a folder that contains a lot of different documents. xls, .doc, .pdf
etc. Different users have access to different documents. The problem is
that if a user knows the name of a document then he can just write the path
into IE and get access to it anyway. Is it possible to prevent this?
Thanks,
Shawn

Hi all
We are a college and are looking to allow remote file access to students. We
want them to log in over the web and the have access to a file manager. So
they can download files from their user space, upload back to it. delete
files, rename etc...
Does anyone know of a system that does this? (Preferably free!!)
Thanks in advance

Hello,
I wrote some complicated functions (and stored procedures) in database
at my work. System administrator (and every db user) can view codes
(in Enterprise Manager for eg.). My employer needs periodic modifying
of code and so I'm required to do it. But I can loose my job :)
because users are able to modify code (althout they ware too lazy to
create it by themselves).
Is this possible to protect functions from view it?

I am developing an application which will allow users (students) to run
applications on PC's with elevated rights. This is necessary for some
applications which require Administrator rights on the PC.
I now need to store the local administrator username and password
somewhere where my application can read this from.
I am looking for comments on
1. Recommend place to store this data

Let's say you want to use Moodle to teach an introductory class in PHP
programming. Some of the students have little or no computer experience.
In addition to background reading and topics-oriented assignments
supplied by Moodle, you want to build an online text editor into the
course, so students can type their PHP programs and HTML directly into
files on the server, so they don't have to fight with NotePad on Windows
PCs in a lab, and...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
