If you've ever employed custom error numbers and messages in you programs,
you've probably ended up with code similar to what I've ended up with in
the past something like...
<code>
public Const xyzcErrNumBase As Long = 500
Public Const xyzcErrNumHeyDontDoThat = xyzcErrNumBase + 1
Public Const xyzcErrTxtHeyDontDoThat = "Hey! Don't do that!"

the customError feature is not working. I have it setup as the help says in
my web.config file.
<customErrors defaultRedirect="DsAppError.aspx" mode="RemoteOnly"/>
I tried in a couple different parts of my site to throw a dummy exception
and I always get to the page that says change my web.config to the statement
above.

Hi,
I've set up a custom error like this
<customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="ErrorPage.aspx">
<error statusCode="404" redirect="error404.aspx" />
</customErrors>
So requests for NoSuchPage.aspx are routed to error404.aspx. Good. But it
seems that requests for any other file extension (*.htm) or requests without
a filename (eg www.site.com/nosuchfolder) are routed to the default 404

I have a web service consumer in asp.net with the web config file set with a
custom error page and the remote only setting. Most the time if an error
occurs the custom error page is displayed.
But once in awhile the standard .net framework error page appears telling me
my so and so application has an error blah blah blah and goes on it's speal
of how to set error details in the web config file blah blah blah.
I'd sure like to know...

I have created a custom MembershipProvider called "LassieMembershipProvider"
that derives from "MembershipProvider". This providor is located in a
Businesslogic layer dll called "Enlighten.LinkMad.Businesslogic". In one of
my frontend websites I use this type to authenticate a user who is trying to
login.
The following excerpt is from the web.config of the particular site showing
the reference to the custom provider, allowing .Net to do...

I have made some user controls with custom properties. I can set those
properties on instances of my user controls, and I have programmed my user
control to do useful visual things in response to how those properties are
set.
I want to be able to do two other things:
a) add User control instances to my page, filling in the place of
placeholder controls, and
b) programmatically setting custom properties on those dynamically spawned...

Hello all,
I am having trouble dealing with ~(tilde) in my .Net 1.1 web application,
specially when it comes through the URL. For example, when someone requests
the following URL: www.mysite.com/~mypage.aspx, my web application will
through the following error (with custom errors turned off):
Server Error in '/' Application.

Hi!
I have problem using simple custom form control on asp.net page. It does not
do much. Just label and button. (It is for training purpose).
My control works fine when I use it in my windows application but I have
problem with asp.net.
I use <object id="Cont1" classid="http:Cont.dll#Contr.SomeCont">
When I run my page for the first time it loads and works. When I change
something in that control, build .dll and upload to root dir of...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
