WinXP Pro IISRESET "No such interface supported" error

Hi people,

I've got WinXP Pro SP2 English on my laptop and since installing SP2
got the IISRESET "No such interface supported" error.

The whole story:

I was writing a fairly simple ASP app with in-memory recordsets,
and while testing I issued an iisreset to get 'clean test results',
but I got the "No such interface supported".

The strange thing is, the EventLog doesn't show this error.
I tried 'issreset /enable', no errors there.

net stop w3svc
net start w3svc

both still work.

I tried 'net start iisadmin /y' and restarting the related services,
DCOM is started, etc... ASP & ASP.Net (v1.1) or still both workin
correctly.

I googled for the error and the one solution/cause I found concern
Crystal Reports 8.0. I got VS 2003 installed including Crystal Report
9.0, which is an optional part of the setup. So I read the related M
KB article, checked the regkeys, even tried the Crystal Reports
hotfix, but nothing worked.

I know most of the time reinstalling IIS doesn't fix things (since thi
doesn't reset any registry-settings), so I didn't try that one yet. M
experience tells me that it's probably some DCOM or Registry issu
which should be fixed ... But re-installing IIS or using Syste
Restore Points are my last-resort ... so I dediced to post the issu
here ...

I got no Antivirus or other system-protecting / monitoring / tweaking
software running in the background. Except for SP 2 nothing change
since my last succesful iisreset.

Ofcourse I'm logged on as administrator & I didn't change any NTF
permissions or Useraccount settings...

Any idea will be appreciated highly

I am contemplating getting into Python, which is used by engineers I admire - google and Bram Cohen, but was horrified to read "no variable or argument declarations are necessary." Surely that means that if I misspell a variable name, my program will mysteriously fail to work with no error message. If you don't declare variables, you can inadvertently re-use an variable used in an enclosing context when you don't intend to, or

I have been working on a Sharepoint web part project in C#/ASP.Net for several weeks, and aside from the main project I have a CAB project to distribute the Web Part to the server. After several weeks of working fine, I'm now suddenly getting the "No such interface" error every time I build the CAB file (and it won't build). I don't know of anything in particular that changed, other than some typical code changes to the web part. I...

I am developing a component in .Net 1.1, and want to debug it using the "start external program" of the debugger in the IDE. The program I want to start references both 1.1 and 2.0 components. The problem is that when I launch this from VS2003, the external program starts only for a moment and then bails out of memory with no error, and the ide returns to a stopped state awaiting my input. If I remove the 2.0 framework, at least the...

Hi, this simple server (time protocol) does not respond after a few hours, even when it is restarted. The behaviour looks to me like a firewall blocking but I have desabled the firewall. Using Netstat - a I find the server listed when it is running and not listed when I stop it. The server starts whith no error. But after about 6-8 hours there is no way to make it respond again (even when it is restarted). Once it is blocked, I killes...

Hi i'm a beginner at php and my simple web query page doesn't work.. i swear i had it working at one point but now i've come back to it it doesn't. • My form works • My DB connection works • My query works in my client... so it should work here. It has the right DB and all the right table names... i've only changed the word = 'myword' to word = '$word' so it will use the form value instead. • My while loop doesn't return results.....

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
