Hi All, I build an object called "dblorcle" to connect to oracle database in Sun solaris box. This is built linking with various oracle ".a" (archived, for static linking) files come with standard oracle library. I use the following command while linking: ld -L(oracle lib path) -lnetv2 -lnttcp -lnetwork -lncr -lnetv2 -lnttcp -lnetwork -lclient -lcommon -lgeneric -lmm -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 For each element starting with -l has...

I'm compiling the latest version of a CORBA ORB called MICO on a Cray X1. It makes heavy use of templates and namespaces. Up until the link step, the C++ source code compiled flawlessly. But, when it tried to link, I got the attached warnings and then an error. Any ideas why the linker wouldn't see the objects in the library? They look like pretty long names, so maybe there is some type of symbol length or mangling issue going on? The...

Is there anything that gives a good description of how source code is converted into a translation unit, then object code, and then linked. I'm particularly interested in understanding why putting normal functions in header files results in multiple definition errors even when include guards are used. -- STH Hatton's Law: "There is only One inviolable Law" KDevelop: http://www.kdevelop.org SuSE: http://www.suse.com Mozilla:...

I want to link the C++ standard libraries statically for my application because I don't space for the .so files on my target platform. After quite a bit of searching, I found very little information that was helpful. The best information I found was at this link http://fresco.org/~njs/c++-without-stdc++ I followed the approach here and used -nostdlib to disable the default linking. Instead I use the options:

I need to import data from 720 csv files into an Access database so I can do some editing prior to loading into a SQL Server. These files came from data output from a mainframe on a monthly basis. There are 15 files created each month with each file containing specific data. What I started to do is store the files by year and then by month so I new when the data is based on. I have linked the table to the database and them append the...

I have a problem with port forwarding and I have been working on it for over 2 weeks with no luck. I have found C programs that almost work and Java programs that almost work, but nothing that does what I need. I've even tried writing a port forwarder in Java and found problems that nobody seems to have the answer to in forums. I need to make it work essentially the same on both Windows and Linux. There is one program, in C, that...

I am converting an application from A97 to A2003. I have 2 tables created by another application as a Foxpro.dbf. The table has no index. The connect string in A97 is FoxPro 2.0;HDR=NO;IMEX=2;DATABASE=C:\Test It's really easy to connect to those tables in A97. I'm having difficulties in A2003. I'm trying to follow the instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824264/.

C++ linking works by using Linker to combine object files into single exe file. Does each .cpp file compile to a single .obj file? If the .cpp code called functions in some library (.lib) does the Linker will extract the required .obj object file from the library and link together with other .obj file to form a EXE? So the EXE file can be think of a code file that merged all the .cpp

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
