Copy HTML file, Delete old and rename new script?

I'm new at this and wonder if this is possible.

I'm running a Win2k server with FP 2002 Extensions using discussion boards.
There is a time delay in the posted content and the way our moderators are
managing it now involves logging into the server, copying the TOC file,
deleting the public TOC file and renaming the copy to the new public
version. --Copy and paste Tocprivate.htm -> delete TocPublic.htm -> rename
copy of Tocprivate.htm to TocPublic.

Is it possible to script something that would allow this to happen with a
single click of a button through their web browser?

Thanks for any suggestions, Neil

hi, you can use FSO(file system object) or WSH(windows script host) to do
that.

dear all, i've created an application for a customer where the customer can upload ..csv-files into a specified ftp-directory. on the server, a php-script, triggered by a cronjob, reads all the data, imports it into a mySQL database and deletes the .csv-file after the import. so far, so good. but in some cases the cronjobs starts running when the file is not completely

Hi I'm writing a commercial program which must be reliable. It has to do some basic reading and writing to and from files on the hard disk, and also to a floppy. I have foreseen a potential problem. The program may crash unexpectedly while writing to the file. If so, my program should detect this during startup, and then (during startup) probably delete the data added to the file and redo the writing operation.

Hi, I have written a stay-open-AppleScript for Mac OS X, gathering certain informations from different apps, which can only be gathered via AppleScript. This script writes its informations into a simple text file, every 15 seconds. And a python script is supposed to read this text file on a regular basis in order to feed the aquired datat into a database working only on Windows. Now the problem: How can I prevent that the python script...

Hi, I’ve written a c# program to compact certain msaccess databases. The way this works is to compact say C:\test1.mdb to C:\temp.mdb, then delete C:\test1.mdb and rename C:\temp.mdb as C:\test1.mdb. My problem occurs if there is already a C:\temp.mdb file. I don’t want to just delete this, as it could have been created separately by a user. In my code, I set a constant as follows: private const string tempMdb = @"C:\temp.mdb";

I asked the question yesterday, but know better how to ask it, today: I'm trying to use the File.Copy method to copy a file from a client to server (.Net web app under IIS ). It looks to me that when I give a path like @"C:\holdfiles\myfile.txt" it looks on the server C drive. How do I pull from the client? Do I need a different class and/or method? Filestream? -- Thanks,

Hi, I'm trying to strip the html and other useless junk from a html page.. Id like to create something like an automated text editor, where it takes the keywords from a txt file and removes them from the html page (replace the words in the html page with blank space) I'm new to python and could use a little push in the right direction, any ideas on how to implement this? Thanks!

I just recently changed my database that I'm running from a monolithic DB to a split FE/BE. The front end resides on the client machine and the BE resides on a network drive. I'm experimenting with a utility developed by Tony Toews to handle the distribution and subsequent updates of the software. I'm having some trouble with the overall upgrade process I've implemented, and I'm hoping one of you may have an idea how to go about fixing...

I am wondering if this is possible. I have a file that is accessed by multiple users and keeps track of activity (the file is polled by flash every 2 seconds). As users leave, the flash program tells the php program to remove them from the activity file, and as users access this activity file, users who have timed out (haven't been heard from in 60 seconds) are removed. Using a combination of flock, microsecond sleeps, loops and the flash...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
