Unicode and IIS5

I found this articel that says that Server.HtmlEnco de will screw up unicode
data. I'm using htmlencode on many pages and cannot see that data are
corrupted. It says in the "This information in this article applies to"
section that it is applicable for ASP 2.0 with IIS4 and IIS5. I thought IIS5
only supported ASP 3.0? Is the Server.HtmlEnco de OK to use in ASP3.0 on
IIS5?

If you follow the link under "references " you will get to an article that
indicates the problem was fixed by a service pack in NT 4.

Or you can follow the steps listed to recreate the problem.

Hi Mark and thanks for you info!

I just don't understand why the article is applicable for IIS5 (as it says
in the "applies to"). If it is only a IIS4 problem I would imagine that the
applies to only included IIS4 (as far as I know IIS 4 cannot run Unicode
pages anyway, there are other issues than the server.htmlenco de if I
remembers correct). None is happier than me if the server.htmlenco de works
for IIS5 ;-))

We are poised to migrate about 600 ASP sites from a single IIS5 server to a new pair of IIS6 servers. However, it appears that all files with includes like: <!-- #include virtual="../../includes/file.asp" --> will not work on IIS 6, it returns ASP 0126, include file not found. We have enabled parent paths, but I can't find any documentation that suggests that IIS 6 handles include directives differently than IIS 5.

Hello, my customer has w2k with iis5. My boss says that I have to developer with vs.net 2002 because they have that configuration. He is not an expert as me so I think he is wrong. The an THe answer I gave to him is the only thing the customer needs is FrameWork 1.1 and that I can work on my office with vs.net 2003 and then generate a setup proyect, than I would bring that setup file to the customer server and execute it independently...

Our webhost (www.usbusinessweb.net) had a W2K IIS5 server crash after a scheduled hard-boot occurred during a ms-security patch install overnight. They couldn't get the server working again so they transferred our site www.orbisoft.com to a new W2003 IIS6 server they set up. That was a week ago. Since that transfer, all of our ASPX pages that use Access2000 databases have stopped working.

Any help on this topic is greatly appreciated. Currently we are running ASP.NET 1.1 in production with over 30+ 1.1 applications. Recently we have written several applications using ASP.NET 2.0. We are ready to deploy our newly written application but have run into several issues on our development environment and confirmed it would occur in our production environment by removing one of our servers from the farm. We are getting the...

I have an ASP.NET 1.1 application that does URL rewriting via a custom HttpModule. We recently migrated this application from Win2k/IIS5 to Win2k3/IIS6. In IIS5, I added a wildcard application map that filtered the verbs I wanted to handle. In IIS6, the wildcard application is added differently and it doesn't allow for verb filtering. How can I do the same sort of filtering in IIS6? Thanks! -Brian

I have an application that communicates with the Company's Active Directory to get the OU of the users. This said application is an ASP.Net web site and has the Windows Authentication enabled. . Now, here's the anomaly: If the application is run on a Server using IIS 5.1, the application works like a charm and the communcation with the Active Directory occurs without any problem.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
