Has anyone seen inexplicable sudden rises in the number of
sessions open? About 2-3 times a day, the session count
(on perfmon) jumps by about 50, and this may happen
repeatedly over a short space of time - taking the total
session count to 1000+.
What could be causing this? Could it be some sort of
attack? Could it be some sort of loop? (It's a new
phenomenon for us.)
Thanks 2 1434
So, when you go from 950 to 1000, this surprises you? Is that what's
happening? That doesn't sound odd, and if it's an attack, it sure is a weak
one!

Our system, for online learning, is for a small community
of users. Over the past three years, the sessions count
has always remained between about 15 and 70 (maximum).
What we are seeing now is a rise on session count (in
blocks of roughly 50) to somewhere between 750-1,800 over
the space of just a few minutes.

Hi...
I'm trying my hardest to understand fully how sessions work and how best to
use them. However, all I can find is information that doesn't tell me
anything other than that sessions store information between pages, which I
knew already. I want to know HOW sessions work! If anybody has any good
links to material that explains sessions fully, then please send those links
this way!
I'm particularly interested in the...

Hi, you all,
I am a newbee for php and I need your help. One of my coworker and I
are both developing a webpage for our project using php. We have a
copy of the same files in different location on the server (in our own
accounts on the same machine). When I am testing both versions of our
program using the same browser (IE on Windows or Konqueror on Linux)
the session variables will mix up and only the latest selection or
options will...

And I use $_SESSION inside my application to print the
username.
Now if I open another browser & log in with "another test" the session

Hi everybody,
I am making a small site. This site uses sessions and I need to store
pictures for each session. I solved this problem thanks to the
session_set_save_handler() function. Sessions have their own folder
where all files are stored. It works quite well for the open, read and
write processes. You can find how I changed the sessions management.
But I don't know what to do at the end of a session. I know that I have
to make...

Am I right in assuming that when I connect from one browser, using several
tabs to a database produced in mysql/php/apache only uses one session for
all tabs? I have been loosing records from my database and my best guess
is that each tab is not a separate session, therefore the session variables
are shared by all tabs and unfortunately this plays havoc when I try to
update my database using the forms I have created.
Is there anyway to...

This is a repost (pasted below). Since my original post, I've double
checked the system clock and set all IIS Session Timeout values to 10
minutes. Still ...the problem occurs. I've also installed Deep Metrix Live
Stats 6.2 XPS just to make sure nothing really strange was going on was
going on. Still....the sessions only increment...or should I say my counter
in my asax file.... and never goes down.
If it matters, this machine is...

put the sessionid as a label on the page and I get only one sessionid if I
open two "sessions" in seperate IE executions. I also get the same if I
embed a webbrowser control into a windows application.
Any ideas?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
