hallo ng,
first of all, for the zipping progress i use the ziplib from
http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SharpZipLib/Default.aspx
now to my problem.
im trying to build a little application for zipping our webservers logfiles.
after zipping all files, i've tried to delete all files, but i couldnt. i
got an error message that i cannot delete a file, because it is still in
use. Here my two functions for that:

I have a dataset that stores quite a lot of data from database and I
need to transfer this over network with slow connection.
May i know is it possible to "compress" the dataset in whatever way so
that the transfer can be done faster? If it is possible, can you give me
some hints?

I have a project which requires having users upload files to be burnt to
compact disk. The requirement is to zip (compress) and/or span files to
compact disk size on upload. I cannot use winzip all the time as there is a
4GB limit, which will be reached at times.
I enquired about using the develper version of PKZIp to overcome the winzip

'ubuntu'.
zip_command = 'zip -qr %s %s' % (target, ' '.join(source))
I execute this using os.command(zip_command). It works fine...

Hi all,This is in reply to the 'Compressing folders in Windows using
Python' query I raised y'day.
I figured out that windows does not allow command line zipping so I
started looking for alternatives.
I found some modules in Perl which does zipping. I guess it goes by the
name 'gzip'. I plan to write the zipping feature in Perl and import it
into Python.

Hello,
I use the code below to zip files to a single .zip destination. I get the
expected result when i work on my developement machine (WinXP sp.2).
When i deploy the web application which host the code on win2k3 , it only
works for a single file.
I gave the modify right to "Noetwork Service" on the folder i'm writing to.
It does not help.
