I've used the Membership classes in an ASP.NET 2.0 application to create an
application that interfaces with an older SQL Server 2000 database.
Everything is working except the following...
Like many websites, users can sign up by filling in a form. Because we're
interacting with other databases, I eschewed the CreateUserWizard control and
wrote my own logic programmatically, making use of the
Membership.CreateUser() method.

I've been playing around with new (for 2.0) membershp functionality.
I was able to build a simple login form that secures a directory on a
project I built locally on my development desktop.
However, when I attempt to follow the same steps on the remote test
server (a website I access via filesystem security accross my lan ).. I
get the following when I attempt to select the security tab from the
administer selection of the login...

After a user logs in (ASP.NET 2.0 membership/roles), how do I
programmatically access their UserId and other information stored in
the ASP.NET database structure? A user may login at Login.aspx and
then they are redirected to somepage.aspx. somepage.aspx doesn't have
a reference to the login object and can't access UserId.
Also, are there any issues with changing the UserId column from a
uniqueidentifier to an integer IDENT?
Thanks.

Hey, i've been trying to create a signup page that asks for a
username, password and then to confirm the password. It is suppose to
check how long both of them are, and if the passwords line up, that
went well, but i can't make it check to see if it is being used by
someone else. heres the script, good luck.

Hello,
I have a web application that makes use of the SQL Membership and Role
providers. My app has admin screens to manage users (membership), roles, and
supplementary user data. I have just deployed the application to a
production server.
My Question: How do I create the initial Admin role and user in the
clean/unpopulated database that has the Membership and Role schema on this
production server?

I have an aspnetdb database sitting in different domain with the web server.
To authenticate a user and populate membership provider, WCF is used.
However, I have no idea how to pass the membership provider back to web
server. Therefore, I can not use the role feature in the web.sitemap. All the
sample code I found uses the membership provider at server site on the same
domain with the aspnetdb. No sample solution passes the membership...

Hello,
We use an access database for the membership administration of thousands of musicians. Membership status varies from "active" to "suspended" to "expelled".
Musicians go in and out of active membership. The database keeps track of the last time a member was suspended and the last time a member was expelled. Unfortunately, like many programs, the history is written over each time.
My goal is to automate capturing a "30-years...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
