SSL only works when ms sql server has "force encryption option"
turned on...
If I turn that off, and try to have the client software request
encryption.. I get a ssl security error msg.
The thing is.. I had this working before I upgraded to sp3andsp4and
install my new cert (I did the upgrades at the same time)

I developed an application and I am using SQL Server 2000 developer edition.
I create my database and I have also created tbl_USER table.
I have an ID, RealName, UserName, and UserPassword fields.
I want to save UserName and UserPassword using bit or binary data type with
VB.NET. Then ofcourse I have to retrive them to compare it later and if I
find match than user can enter the MAIN forum.

Hi,
As part of a website (ASP.NET) we're creating, we need the ability to
store documents with pretty much 'mission critical' security. ie, if the
server is completely compromised (eg a trojan/virus is installed or
someone physically steals the server) they will still not be able to
gain access to the content of the files. I can securely transfer the
files to and from the server, but I am unsure of how best to store them
securely.

Can anyone tell me the easiest or best way to do secure
server-to-server transmissions using PHP? Does SSL work for
server-to-server? Thanks for any replies.

I'm getting ready to build my first ASP.NET/SQL Server website that will be
hosted on some web host out there (long distance, different network). The
work I've done in the past (pre-.NET) was all done on in-house servers.
Since this website/web-app will be hosted elsewhere, I wanted to ask some
questions to make sure that I'm doing things correctly.
We have a SQL 2000 db hosted on a server here. I need to build a website
(hosted...

I was wondering whether anyone ever dealt with encryption that are visa
compliant with credit card numbers:
On 3.4 of this document
(http://usa.visa.com/download/business/accepting_visa/ops_risk_management/cisp_PCI_Data_Security_Standard.pdf)
It states the encryption:
One-way hashes (hashed indexes), such as SHA-1

Hi all,
My company changed the security policy for DB2 server in mainframe. To
implement this policy in client, I have to enable encryption of Server
authentication for the two different db2 clients, one in UNIX and the
other in Windows.
However, the DB2 client in Windows works very well, and the one in
UNIX still give me the error message:
"SQL30082N Attempt to establish connection failed with security

After checking the box "Force Protocol Encryption" on SQL Server Network Utility there are several Crystal reports that begin to throw the following error when run
Query Engine Error: '08S01:Communication link failure'
Go back into the Server Network Utility and uncheck the Force Protocol Encryption and they work fine again.
Is there anyone that has encountered this before? Used the protocol encryption before? Any ideas about what to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
