IIS/NT Security - simple question (I think)

How do I stop the NT login popup box from coming up when accessing a web
page that has anonymous access disabled, and Integrated Windows
authentication set. If I click OK without entering anything in the popup
box, it brings up the page, so I know I have access to it. (If I click
cancel, it does NOT bring up the page). I just need to stop the box from
popping up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) Turn on Anonymous
2) Turn on Integrated Auth (only works if you are on the same network)
3) Pass the user & password in the URL....

Hey folks, I was just reading about the attempt to insert a backdoor into the Linux kernel. You can read the details here: http://kerneltrap.org/node/view/1584 This is the code that the attacker inserted: if ((options == (__WCLONE|__WALL)) && (current->uid = 0))

S**t for brains strikes again! Why did I do that? When I met the clients and at some point they vaguely asked whether eventually would it be possible to have some people who could read the data and some who couldn't but that it wasn't important right now. And I said, 'sure, we can do that later'. So now I've developed an app without any thought to security and am trying to apply it afterwards. Doh!, doh! and triple doh!

Hi there. I'm working on an application that currently uses DAO to connect to an Access 97 database. The database is created by and used exclusively by the product to store search results and statistics during the product's operation. The number of searches stored in one database vary a lot (one user might only do 100 whilst another might do 1 million). Once the search results have been stored, the product provides a

I am trying to write a vb.net app that can read and/or write local security policy settings on standalone workstations. BTW, counting on domain group policy is not an option, since some of our workstations do not sit on the network. Anyway, I've been trying to use DirectoryServices to get at the local security policy, but found I must specify the computer name and a valid local user account to enumerate all of the values that I need to...

Role-based security for an ASP/ASP.NET mixed environment Hello: My co-worker and I have been charged with designing role-based security for our intranet. The technologies we have to work with are ASP and ASP.NET. This security design must support *both* technologies. Currently, we have a successful collection of both ASP and ASP.NET applications with an identical look and feel; you'd only know they are different by virtue of an ASP...

In the past I always regarded user/group security as fairly tight. It is tricky to implement, but once implemented properly, it can't be cracked except through a dedicated effort. Recently, however, I saw something which greatly lowered my opinion of user/group security. I sent a secured database to a colleague. I forgot to send him the workgroup file, but that didn't slow him down at all. The next day, he sent me the work I had...

I am new to PHP but have done other programming can someone please hold my hand and slowly talk me through some simple security issues? I have seen in PHP documents that there are 'strip slashes' commands and so on but I dont understand where the security issues actually are. i am writing some scripts that will shell out and call different linux shell programs such as 'ls' or 'grep' or 'sed' and so on and possibly update a 'mysql'...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
