Got a web app that keeps the 20 sec session timeout default. Only deal is
the user doesn't know the session timed out till they submit the page. On
one page that i actually don't care if it times out i have a meta tag that
refreshes at about 18 minutes so the screen never times out.
On the other pages that i want to time out, i'd like to pop a warning that
the screen has timed out that will stay visible til the user clicks OK......

I have a web method called WM1 running on my website. Whenever the web page
refresh WM1 is being called. Each time WM1 is called the session timeout is
reset, which we don't want the reset to happen. Is it possible to avoid the
session timeout being reset when a particular web method (like WM1 in my
case) is called?
thanks.

First: There are several ways to confuse one regarding session timeout.
(1) web.config - <sessionState timeout="20">
(2) IIS Manager | Internet Information Services | ServerNode | Default Web Site |
Properties | Configuration | Options | Enable Session State
Session timeout 20
(3) within Global.asax.vb file - Session_Start subroutine can use
Session.Timeout=x minutes or
(4) within any web page, i.e., <web page>.aspx can use...

My ASP.NET application has a module that needs to change the local system
time on the hosting machine. I have session timeouts enabled, but I need to
reset the session timeout if the local system time is changed. I don't see
any means to do this. My problem is that if the system time is reset to the
future, the session state will timeout. Is there anyway to reset the
session timer?

I have a page where the user can upload a video file. As you can guess, this
may take a while. Is there a way I can change the session timeout for just
this one page? I would also want to change the forms authentication to be a
large value for that page also.
TIA - Jeff.

When I am running my ASP.NET 2.0 application using VS.NET 2005 ASP.NET
Development Server, the session state seems to be getting lost at various
times without warning. I am not sure why this is happening. It is not
related to timeout because it occurs way before the default of 20 session
timeout setting.
One thing that I did notice that may be a key to this:
1. Place a breakpoint in Global.asax for session_end.
2. Run ASP.NET...

Using Ajax .NET (or javascript) to auto-refresh some pages causes the
Session timeout to reset. In my application I have certain panels that
i would like to update every 10 seconds or so, but i don't want that
to affect the timeout of the session - i still want the session to
timeout after 20 min.
Basically, i would like to NOT reset the session timeout on certain
requests (even though they use the session information).
Is there...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
