The user who is logged on at the console, or through your website, you mean?

What you'd do is turn off anonymous access and require users to log in with
NT authentication. Then use request.serverv ariables("logon _user"). See
details here. http://www.aspfaq.com/2046

I would like to generate non-modal popup windows from ASP.Net code-behind. I have tried using Client Side scripting like "function Test(){ window.open('test.htm',_blank, 'height=200,width=400,status=no,toolbar=no, menubar=no,location=no resizable=no scrollable=no'); but I can't seem to invoke the client side script from within a Server Side Form. I know I can use the context with to Response.redirect or Server.transfer to return a

I have an ASP.NET application that instantiantes a Win32 C++ Com object. This object's methods require specific access permissions to the underlying registry/file structure in order to function properly. On windows 2000/xp if we enable impersonation in the ASP.NET app's Web.Config file then access is granted/denied based-upon the logged-in user. However, if the same is done in Windows Server 2003 I MUST still grant "Network Service"...

I am using VB.NET and need to get the user's name that has logged onto the user's computer. In VB6 I used an API call. Is this still the most efficint way or does the .NET framework have an easier, more efficint way of getting the user's name? Many Thanks,

Hi peoples, I dont know where to place this question, so as I know you guys are all resourceful experts, I thought I would try here. I am writing some code which will be run usingh remote desktop ( On windows 2003 Server ), I need to determine in the code the machine name and username. If I use GetUsername and GetMachineName, it simply gives me the name of the currently logged on user ( at the Server ) and the Servers Machine Name.

Hi. I'm not sure whether this is a SharePoint or an ASP problem... but I thought it made sense to post here. I'm having trouble instantiating a C# class from within my ascx file. When I attempt to run it on our SharePoint 2007 server, I receive this error in the log file: "System.Web.HttpCompileException: c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server...

Hi, I have a tool which is made in C and uses the API GetUserName(). But we have the problem as the user says it gives incorrect username "sometimes". When the failure occurs, the username. that is retrieved is a valid but one not belonging to the logged on user. For example the staff number retrieved is 04982479, but when a failure occurs with the same user, instead of retrieving 04982479, another (valid) username is returned. Is there...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
