I have authentication set for my site but I need one page to be an exception
case. Namely my forgot password page. How do I tell the webconfig file to
authenciate all pages except one page?

Hi,
I've created a little site for my sports club. In the root folder there are
pages that are viewable by every anonymous user but at a certain subfolder
my administration pages should be protected by forms authentication.
When I create forms authentication at root level it works but when I move my
code up to the subfolder I get this error:
Server Error in '/TestProjects/FormsAuthenticationTestingArea' Application.

hi there,
i've got a website i created, that i've put onto my test server on the web.
I have a login page, that when the user comes to it, it first pops up a
windows authentication dialog box, and i dont know why? i click cancel on it
and the page still works as normal.
How can i remove this, and why is it appearing?
i am also not using any .NET authentication methods or anything..

I am new to ASP.NET having come from ASP classic background. I need to
understand authentication. I have a server running IIS which contains an
ASP.NET app. On IIS the app has both anonymous and Windows Integrated
Authentication enabled. In the ASP.NET app, the web.config file contains

When VS.NET creates a web.config file it writes a default
<authentication mode="Windows" /> entry.
Let me see if I got this right...
1.) It does so because I am running locally and my local Windows
user account is being used by VS.NET leaving me a bit confused
as when an application is run locally I am not challenged for credentials
even if I request the application from a separate instance of IE.
