Making site search engine friendly

I have a standard look to my site so I thought I might just make all the
pages .asp pages and use #include statements to grab all the common content,
however I want to be sure that all the big search engines crawl it without a
problem. I heard that some have problems with ASP even if the ASP is not
that complicated.

Wherever you heard it from, it's wrong. ASP is a server side
technology that's processed on the web server and delivers html to the
browser. It's the resulting html that search engines index.

the only problem with search engines sometimes is a lot of querystring
information which controls page content like a forum would use. some search
engines know what it is and avoid it or dont follow it forever

just having the extension ".asp" is not an issue though and should be just
as good as being ".htm" for the most part

if you really want ".htm" you can always go into IIS and set up ".htm" to
run as ".asp"

do a google search, there are plenty of examples out there

I need some rather technical spidering advice, and I'm hoping that this is a good place to find it (and my apologies if this isn't). My site contains pages of images, where each image includes a map that generates a popup. You can see an example here: http://album.dweeb.org/pages/1980_1.html Click on a stamp, and javascript invokes a popup. All of that works just fine. Here's what doesn't work well. Stamps have an official Scott...

I've made the decision to use search engine friendly URLs in my site which means translating stripping all parameters our of the URL and converting it to a hierarchical URL like this: Change: /mysite/default.aspx?MenuID=contactus To: /mysite/ContactUs.aspx? The problem I'm having is that its really slowed things up by at least 0.5 seconds to 1 second longer just to pull up a light weight static page. The

Does anyone know of a way to create a search page under ASP.NET 2.0? I have started out by configuring a catalog in Index Server, registering the aspx, ascx extensions in the registry to allow them to be indexed and built the catalog as per KB article, but I've run into an interesting problem. When you publish a website from Whidbey, it precompiles everything and strips out the searchable details of the page (metadata, html, etc)...

Our site gets searched by robots all the time. This is great. However, many of our pages that we want to be cataloged are data driven, so we end up with pages like: www.ourdomain.com/products.aspx?productid=356 Let's assume that we stop selling productid 356. This means that the url above is invalid. If a general user has bookmarked this page or pastes in a url into a browser that isn't quite right, we want them to get a 'pretty'...

Hi, Ok, I find myself having a lot of troubles with URL Rewriting and I've seen on the net that in some situations, indexers have difficulty indexing sites because of some flaws in the url rewriting mecanism... Does anybody have a solution to my problem? I mean, I want to be able to localize my web site without having to dupplicate all the pages in 2-3 (fr, en, sp(optional)) directories and so the indexers can index the right content...

Some days back I was reading one article on web designing. The article was basically about learning the techniques for designing a search engine friendly web site. The words are as such: “Podcasts and videos are becoming more and more popular but as with all non-textual goodies as search engines can't read them, so if you don't have the tapescript of the podcast or the video, then the pod cast or video won’t have any value for search engine...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
