I have an established program that I am changing to allow users to select
one of eight languages and have all the label captions change accordingly.
I have no problems with English, French, Dutch, German, Spanish or Italian.
The Polish language is causing me trouble.
From what I have read, VB supports UNICODE, in fact it uses UNICODE
internally, which means that ANY character in pretty much any language
should be readable from a UNICODE...

I only work in Perl occasionaly, and have been searching for a
solution for a conversion, and everything I found seems much too
complex.
All I need to do is take a simple text file and copy it, however some specific lines are in
fact in UTF8 as printed garbagy characters and they need to be
converted to Unicode, so that the new text file can be imported into a
desktop program and into some Word documents.
For the moment I would be...

My question is presented more clearly in following web page:
http://www.pinyinology.com/signs2.html
<html>
HTML entities display outside script tags:
a¹, a², a³, a⁴
But unicode doesn't display outside script tags:
a\xb2, a\xb3, a\u2074

I am in the process of creating an international GUI application with C# on
..NET1.1 (Win2k), which is supposed to implement a particular look/design. In
order to achieve this, I plan amongst others to define a certain font (MS
Arial Unicode) for the user controls, and provide custom controls which have
the font property fixed set to this font.
The application is supposed to be used in different countries (including
China), so I wonder...

Hello,
I'm using Pythonwin and py2.3 (py2.4). I did not come clear with this:
I want to use win32-fuctions like win32ui.MessageBox,
listctrl.InsertItem ..... to get unicode strings on the screen - best
results according to the platform/language settings (mainly XP Home,
W2K, ...).
Also unicode strings should be displayed as nice as possible at the
console with normal print-s to stdout (on varying platforms, different

Hi,
Is there anyone to have idea how to make the MFC CDialog box display
Unicode (like Chinese characters) in .NET 2005? We have some dilog
boxes created from CDialog class in VC++ 6.0 and try to integrate them
into our new project developed in .NET 2005 to display Unicode.
Any idea and hint will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I hope someone can illuminate this situation for me.
Here's the nutshell:
1. On start I call locale.setlocale(locale.LC_ALL,''), the getlocale.
2. If this returns "C" or anything without 'utf8' in it, then things start
to go downhill:
2a. The app assumes unicode objects internally. i.e. Whenever there is

I have code like this:
except Exception, e:
self.setState(self.Failed, str(e))
which fails if the exception contains a unicode argument.
I did, of course, try unicode(e) but that fails.
The following works, but seems rather messy:
except Exception, e:

Hi list.
I've never used unicode in a Python script before, but I need to now.
I'm not sure where to start. I'm hoping that a kind soul can help me
out here.
My current (almost non-existant) knowledge of unicode:
string types. What I don't understand yet is what encodings are and
when you'd want/need to use them. What I'd like is to just be able to

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
