How to search ASP files for text string with Windows Explorer Search ??

tmb
I need to search a folder & sub-folders for key words in ASP files...

I can open the files with Notepad and see the text string there...

But when I try to navigate to the folder with Windows Explorer, right click
and 'search for word in file' ... it reports back that the text string was
not found.

I've fooled around with the 'advanced' settings but can't seem to make it
work... even when I'm searching a single folder with a single ASP file in
it... no matter what the text string... it won't find it... neither will the
standard search tool with xp-pro.

thanks for any help.

This is an operating system question, so I suggest you ask in a group that
focuses in the operating system you're running.

They're just text files that you're searching. Personally, I use Textpad's
"find in files" feature for such things, but that'd be the case whether
they're ASP files or any other type of file.

I have a Microsoft (R) Visio (TM) document, which contains a link inside (eg. to "http://blabla/"). When I do a full-text search from within Windows Explorer, searching for "blabla", it finds that document. I would like to make a C programme that would be...

It isn't clear this is the right place to post this, but it IS related to ..NET CONFIG files... Windows Explorer (at least on W2003Server) doesn't seem to know that .config files exist. Searching for them as .config, *.*config, *.exe.config and other combinations, even when you can see them in a directory - let alone in sub-directories of for those containing text - doesn't work. I've seen the KB article on Explorer being selective in...

Not sure where to post this... Found some interesting behavior in Windows Search (Start =Search =All files and folders =search for "A word or phrase in the file:"). This applies to XP and maybe other Windows flavors. Procedure: 1. Create a simple text file named test.txt. 2. Open the text file in a text editor and add a simple test word such as "blah" (not quotes).

I'm a newbie using Visual Studio and Vb.Net. The vbscript below opens a Windows Explorer Search Window. The Windows Explorer Search Window has fields in which the user can insert: (i) a search String Filter, and (ii) a search path String. 1. I can't figure out how to convert the vbscript so that it runs as a Visual Basic standalone .exe file. I'd appreciate any help re what code to use, and re which references are needed. 2. I'd like...
