222 New Member
Dear sirs,

Could you please provide me some information about apache web server.

Actually my goal is to design a form on my website that contain a submit button and textbox and each time I click on the submit button I would transfer all data in a database.

After a small research I saw that I have to install apache web server on my laptop and then learn PHP to do it .

Is apache is a good way to start ? if yes am I able to install it on my laptop ?

Yes you can install Apache on Vista. Just go to the Apache site and download the installer from there. Make sure you read the installation notes.
Have you installed the database already?

You are correct. This article has a more detailed comparison between the two.

Usually people choose one of two approaches.

Apache, PHP and MySQL
or
IIS, ASP, and SQL Server.
Choosing one of these combinations has the advantage of there being lots of help/examples available.

Hi, I am one of those questionable people that started with Vista (Home Premium). Not because I think it is a ready/steady OS, but partly out of curiousity, and partly because I needed to work on an old project that happens to run on IIS6/W2000/MSSQL7, but my W2000 machine couldn't handle the size of the database in question anymore. :-( My new Vista machine is 5 years younger and is a lot faster, so I started to figure out how to use...

I'm trying to build a exe on a vista system using py2exe. It will deploy to vista and XP systems. If it matters, the application uses pyserial, as well. I have VS Studio 2005 installed on this laptop as well. I've found this so far that seems to be identical to what I'm seeing (for non-python programs): http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread611031.html When I attempt to run, I get "The procedure entry point _except_handler4_common could...

Hello, My goal is to setup and configure the "Community MySQL server" on my "Vista" laptop. I want to run the server and clients on the same "machine" using the "loopback" IP addr (127.0.0.1) to talk between MySQL clients and the MySQL server. 1) When I run the Config Wizard, I get the following message: "The security settings could not be applied. After having worked with Apache/MySQL/PHP for a year or so under Linux I need, purely for convenience, to set up a parallel platform under Windows. Unfortunately, since I last did this (using Windows XP Pro) I've moved on to Windows Vista (Home Premium). MySQL and Apache2 have both installed satisfactorily, but I'm having problems with PHP5. I downloaded the PHP5 Windows installer (the .msi file) for 32-bit Windows, which is supposed...

I've picked up another laptop, I'm trying to get VS 08 pro on it, but it won't let me install the framework, every time it says (this OS doesn't support this version of the framework.) It's running Vista home premium at the moment, I can rip that off and put XP on if necessary, but surely that's not necessary? When it tries to install 3.5 it claims it can't find 2.0 sp1, So I downloaded that and it refused to install as per the above,...

We have a problem, and as I am not a driver programmer, or even a Windows Applications programmer, I don’t even know how to start. Any help you can give will be appreciated. This involves the Dell Latitude XT laptop. This computer has an N-Trig touchscreen digitizer. I am skipping the analysis of the problem and getting right to basics. The touchscreen is hardwired to the USB bus. When the computer is booted, anything using a...

With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
