After a lot of thought and research, and playing with FreeTDS and
InlineTDS, as well as various ODBC connections, I have determined that
the fastest and cheapest way to get up and going with PHP on Linux,
connecting to MS SQL Server, unless it was already pre-installed by
your Linux installation, is to build your own multithreaded TCP socket
server on Windows and connect to it through the socket API in PHP on
Linux (if you have installed...

Just installed J2RE 1.4.2 on a Linux server. I am very
knew to the POSIX world.
I couldn't dig-up much in the docs or via google about
the following:
1 - Is there a standard way to make sure users (all, or
some) can "reach" java? eg one could presumably create
a java.sh or aliases ... Where is the standard Linux
directory to put such a script (and why)?

I have been looking online for a year, and cant find one.
I used to use the int86() command in dos command-line mode, but it can't
work in linux.
I am using Allegro to make my program work, but I need to put it on a
floppy, both the kernal and the program.
Allegro only works in X-windows, and is commericial anyway.
I have tried to figure it out from allegros code, but its too spread out for
me to get it all.
I just need a small program...

Situation:
I have to connect with my Windows 2000 server using VS.NET 2003 and C# and
connect to a remote Linux server at another company's office and query their
XML file. Their file may be updated every hour or so. How can I do this
easily? I would like to use secure communication even encryption if
possible. I would query and insert locally only the newest records found in
that XML file to an xml or MS access db.

Hi all -
I am trying to launch a web browser from within my code for Linux.
The problem is that I am getting no failure code back when the browser
doesn't launch. (I'm trying to force a failure case so I can test the
alert dialog, so I am trying to launch a browser that I know doesn't
exist on my machine).
I am checking the return value from the call to system(), and am
checking the WEXITSTATUS() of the return code, and both evaluate...

I have a problem that is used to test memory leak as follows, however,
after each run of the program, if I am using the command "free" on the
linux box, I did not see any difference about the usable memory. My
questions are:
1) How to find out exact free memory that my program can use?
2) Use which command to do this (top, or free)
3) why it does not show memory leak in my case (I am using the linux
command free)

Hi Folks,
I am writing a c++ program on redhat linux using main(int argc,
wchar_t *argv). $LANG on console is set to "en_US.UTF-8". g++
compiler version is 3.4.6.
Q1. what is the encoding of data that I get in argv ?
Q2. what is encoding of string constants defined in programs (for
example L"--count") ?

C/C++ Programs and Debugging in Linux
This tutorial will give you a basic idea how to debug a program in Linux using GDB. As you are aware Visual Studio doesn’t run on Linux so you have to use some of the tools provided on the command-line. If you hate the command line tools, get over it since you’re bound to be using them at some point in your career. All commands in Linux ARE case sensitive so capital letters are different from lowercase...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
