get date and time value from timestamp

8 New Member
Can you please help I am a beginner.
I have a clocking in / out Access DB with the following fields in a form. I want to get the "date" detail from the "date" field and add it to the "start" and "finish" fields when i enter times in these fields. The format of the start/finish fields is 08:15 on the form,in the backround it has the full "dd-mm-yy hh:mm" format.

These fields are linked to a MDE database so I have no choice but to work with them. Eg: no dolookup's.

I would appreciate any help.

Start
Finish

Hi Brittany. Welcome to Bytes!

I think the functions you're after are DateValue() and TimeValue(). These strip out the time and date parts of a DateTime value respectively.

If you add the DateValue() of the [Date] control (forms have controls not fields by the way) to the TimeValue() of the [Start] control you will have a valid DateTime value for the Start. The same holds for the Finish.

Good luck :)
