Access 2007 Runtime.

Hello everyone Im running Access 2007. I made a sweet Data base that works flawless however, not all out computers will have access 2007. Their is some features in access 2007 in my database that will not work on earlier versions. I saw the feature for runtime which works awesome but, my question is how can i make updates to my database if its in runtime. For example: Say i use the database and dump a ton of information into it from the runtime mode. Now say 3 months down the road i want to add a new feature to my database.Sub forms or other tables...etc. How do i go about doing that. I tried opening the access file that was made in the devlopers extension tools however, it says its a runtime version of the database and cant be edited. Their has to be a way to update that database. I tried making two version of the database and maybe try to overwrite it but, It stated that i cant load the new version until the old one is uninstall ... Now if you uninstall that database you will lose all your data. Their has to be something that can be done to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Ray Z

P.S. I cant save the database in an earlier version cause their is new features only access 2007 supports.

Ray,

First of all, I would suggest you have a front/end back end setup so that you can avoid importing tables, etc. when you make upgrades to the database. Secondly, if you will just put a .mde version of the front end out to everyone, you will have no problems with upgrades. You just keep your .mdb version as the master file. Then, everytime you do an upgrade to the master, you just create a new .mde from that master file, and distribute it. This way, everyone will stay up to date and still be able to use the run time addition. You could also use this .mde for those that are using Access 2007 as well.

Hope this helps,
Brad.
