Access 2007 - mscomct2.ocx

1 New Member
We've just installed Accessd 2007 that is running a database developed in 2003. The date picker isn't working - we have no pop up calendars, just empty white spaces.

I need to figure out how to activate the mscomct2.ocx activex control in Access 2007 so we can get caught up on our data entry!

Please help,

Jesse

You may have to properly Register the ActiveX Control - try:
  1. Any Form Design View.
  2. Tools ==> ActiveX Controls.
  3. Click Register.
  4. Browse for the mscomct2.ocx File (should be in the System32 directory under your Windows Directory..
  5. Click on OK. It should now be registered.
    --------------------------- OR ---------------------------
    Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
    1. 'substitute your own Path
    2. regsvr32.exe C:\Windows\System32\mscomct2.ocx

Does this need to be done on all en-user machines?

You do know that there's a new built in date-picker in Access 2007? You can select any date field on your forms, and enable the date picker in it's propeties. If all your end-users are going to be running the Acc2007 runtime, then this might be a simpler fix.

The following is copied from the help file:

TextBox.ShowDatePicker Property
Gets or sets whether the date picker control is displayed for the specified text box. Read/write Integer.
Version Added: Access 2007

expression.ShowDatePicker
expression A variable that represents a TextBox object.

Value Description
0 The date picker control is not displayed.
1 The date picker control is displayed when the text box is bound to a Date field.

The ShowDatePicker property is not available for text boxes on reports
