How to obtain New version of Access

Can anyone provide an invite or information on how I can obtain a trial
version of the newest MS Access software?

Hi, Bob:
You can download the 2007 beta version from the Microsoft website. Don't do
it on a machine you are actually using a current or older version of access
on, however as the 2007 beta will upgrade your current installation, possibly
with undesirable results. If it does this, I don't think you can get rid of
it short of completely uninstalling Office 2007 and reinstaling whatever
version you are currently using. It wasn't a problem for me because I use
OpenOffice on my personal machine. Actually, I was going to go get you a
URL for it, but now I can't find the thing. It should be there under
'downloads' someplace, though.

Sorry if this wasn't as helpful as it might have been.

I have both 2007 and 2003 installed.
2007 beta is a free download from MS.

2007 breaks Outlook 2003 but the fix is simple. (Rename the MSMapi32.dll
file to MSMapi32.old in the System32 folder; MS says rename the Mapi32.dll
file; sigh!) All else seems ok.

(OT: it's IE 7 Beta which has burned me. It seems that lots of MS help
files and SDK documentation require IE 6 [that version only] to work. It's
a while ago but I seem to recall that getting rid of IE 7 was not fun.)

Lyle,

I've recently taken to using a virtual machine in the now-free VMWARE
player for such evaluations. It lets me try out "potentially harmful"
software without risking my general use system. I highly recommend
it.

That's interesting. I could have sworn that when my daughter's fiancee
downloaded the beta it ate his Office 2003. Anyhow, I really liked Randy's
tip about VMWARE and will probably go get it tonight.
