ADO Update

I am trying to update a table in Access 2003 using ADO. The records are being populated but some of the previous records are being modified. I have three levels of parent-child relationships and I am wondering how to handle this with ADO

Simplified table structures
-------------------------------------------
tblPO
K - PO_ID
CO_ID

tblCO
K - CO_ID
SOW_ID

tblSOW
K-SOW_ID

When I add a record to the recordset, another record sometimes (but not all the time) gets assigned to a new parent. It sometimes reverts back to the original parent. I am at a loss as to why this is happening, unless there is a conflict between the code Access is using in the front end to display the data (each level is a subform of the parent level) and the ADO code I am using to populate the recordset. I am closing the recordset after each addition and and setting it = Nothing. This change is always occuring on the bottom level, as I am not modifying any parent records at this stage.

My connection is
Dim rstPO As New ADODB.Recordset
rstPO.Open "tblPO", CurrentProject.AccessConnection, adOpenDynamic, adLockOptimistic
'add the record, getting data from a form
rstPO.close
set rstPO = Nothing

Any help or direction would be greatfully appreciated

Hi,

In fact maybe you enter new values that have to be entered firstly in the others tables... but it is impossible if you have created a good relationship...

Please check your relationship...
