scrolling control source...any way to fix or disable this ?????

This morning I was adding some fields in a database.
I double clicked on the control source field to highlight and copy
the control name into the name of the control..well I have done this a
thousand times.
Wait I have a problem.
name---text241
control sourse---address

double click control sourse to get address and paste it in name ..
now I have
name---address
control sourse---city

wait a minute this should be
name---address
control sourse---address

city is the next thing in the control sourse pulldown

EVERY time I double click on anything in properties IF it has a
pulldown I get the next thing in the list.

visible switches from yes to no.

everything.
SO I am thinking this is a new dell computer it must be something they
did.
NOPE I checked some old ps2 mice on old machines and it looks like it
has always been this way...how much have a screwed up over the years
and never noticed this? I am scared to look but I have never noticed
this before..ahhhhhh :)

anyone know a way to make it double click to highlight and select
WITHOUT scrolling ?

thanks big time for reading this and for any info you could give on
this.
Jerry
