Database distant access

Greetings!

I want to have a client on location have access to a database that I have on
my server.

He needs to be able to add data, delete data, view data.

Ideally I would like that the client can access the database though a web
browser on any computer.

Alternatively he could have access to my server and can access the database
like this.

Can anybody advise me how to do this?

Are there software packages available to set this up easily?

In MS Access there are some features that allow to make web pages to access
a database. Is this useful?

Are there any recommendable internet links where I can find information?

Any advice is welcome. I am pretty new on this.

This really isn't a database theory question and you would probably be
better off posting to the database board for whatever kind of database
you possess.

Generally to enable web based access to your database an application
must be written that runs on a web server and that application performs
the access.

You can open the database to access by clients that run on your network
but I do not think you would want to open the database to clients that
run anywhere on the Internet as this would be a very large security
hole.

You could provide the remote client dial-in or vpn access that would
allow them to access the database as if the client were just another
local user. This just requires buying a dial-in access product or
obtaining a vpn server and software.
