Date & Time Field

I have the need to import logs into an Access table.
The first field is a date & time field, represented in this example:

05/15/2004 17:58:55.336

This is how the logs are reported. Date[SPACE]Time. The time is to 3
decimal points of the second.

Access is not letting me import this into the Date & Time field.

Is there a way to get the Date & Time field to allow 3 decimal places
after the seconds?

My only alternative is to make an ID field and have it
programmatically pull the date, time and then append that number with
the 3 digits after the decimal, to insure a unique number.

Please advise.

Change the design of your table to:

TblLog
LogID
LogDateTime

Make LogID autonumber and let Access assign its value automatically.

The problem with that is I would like to make the Date/Time become the
primary key. There will never be duplicates of that.

I suppose what I could do is what you suggest, or some variation
thereof, but I was really looking to find out whether I could do a
direct import into that field. Apparently I will have to
programmatically change the data of each record or at least add to it
based on the contents. This is going to be using a Visual Basic
application as the front-end to the database, so I will have to do
something like that.

Thanks for the info.
