New Access MVP Colin Riddington (isladogs)

I want to take the opportunity here to welcome and congratulate one of our very own Bytes.com experts and moderators Colin Riddington (isladogs) as a newly-awarded Microsoft MVP for Access (Technically M365 but we all know what he is really ;-)).

It's not long ago I was one of four within the UK & Ireland group - but that recently shrank to a lonely single, so I'm particularly happy to welcome Colin who I know to be very knowledgeable in the area and to have many public resources to support this.

I would add that one of his main claims to fame at this point is that he co-hosts the Access User Group - Europe along with Alessandro Grimaldi (Another very clever (Italian) man). I recommend going to one of the seminars they organise on the first Wednesday of every month whenever you can make it. There is always something interesting to learn about.

Many thanks for your kind words, Ade.
Very pleased to be invited to join you as part of the illustrious group of MVPs whose primary focus is on Access.
I hope to make a useful contribution in the coming months / years.

For info, I'm leading next month's session for Access Europe on 7 Sept 2022 at 18:00 UK time.
Full details can be found at Optimising Queries & the JET ShowPlan

:-( I can't get there for that one again I'm afraid - which sucks as it looks like an interesting one.

I can recommend it though. I've not seen one on that subject before, but I have great confidence in your ability to present a cracking session and I doubt anyone will leave there without learning something they will live to be grateful for.

All the best -Ade.

Hi, Here is my situation. Can anyone provide insight? I have developed a database in Access 2002. I am planning to distribute it as a split MDE (front) / MDB (back) to be used by the Access runtime and also full-version. Some of the client workstations will have Access 2002 installed. Most of them will have the runtime installed. However, I can't find the Office 2002 Developer Edition anywhere! Nobody has

Hi, I have an report in Microsoft Access and it displays everything in the table. One column called "DECISION" in the table has either 1,2, or 3 in it. On my report it displays 1, 2, or 3. I want to appear in the report is Yes, No, or Maybe. What do I need to do to change what appears in the report/what term do I need to search out in Google? Thank you Colin

Hi, I find myself having to support a small ASP/VB/Access web application for a customer of mine. (Our main expertise is PHP/MySQL/Apache). Other than testing on the Customers ISP's Server, are there any low cost ways to set up a Server environment in our office to develop/support and test minor incremental changes to the application. We have a W2000 Professional and Office Professional system but no MS Server software. Colin

Hi For a college project I intend to produce a web based access database which will allow a group leader to send the same email to group members registered for that group. I want the group leader to be able to: Open a web page, choose a group, write an email and send the email to the group. The database will be hosted by a web hosting company which uses server

I am aware of the 'hack the registry' approach. This is just not a safe way to accomplish this on a user's PC. I need to do this the right way. Is there anyone -perhaps from Microsoft - out there who can assist me on this? Access Announcements From time to time we (Access MVPs) get information from the Access Team at Microsoft about what is happening with Microsoft Access. Much of this we are not allowed to share publicly. This sticky thread is for that which we are allowed to share, and for other information we come across related to Access which may not have been prompted by Microsoft themselves. I'll try to keep this up to date with all important...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
