Microsoft Access 2013 locking when it did not previously

1 New Member
Hi,

We recently tried to move our Access database from a file to another and somehow corrupted or changed the settings to the file. Originally, multiple users can access and this is without the database being split.

Now the database is locked when one user is inside. Everyone has full control and the locking settings are set to 'No Locking'. It is also 'shared' rather than exclusive. The main users do not want the database split for other concerns so is there another solution to this allowing multiple users?

I will check again with the user permissions but for a while, it was not allowing changes to the permissions either.

Jasm1234,

Even though there are "other concerns", I would still recommend splitting as this is the safest way to create a DB and protect your data.

You may try opening a brand new DB, and importing all the tables, queries, forms, reports, macros and modules into the new DB and see if this alleviates the problem. No guarantees, but sometimes Access can be finicky when it gets moved around....

I'm looking for information about compatibility between Access 2013 and Access 2003. I've been approached by a firm that wants to begin upgrading their systems. I want to know if it is reasonable to plan to keep the back-end of an Access database in 2003 format while gradually updating client machines from Office 2003 to Office 2013. The front-end is pretty simplistic. It has about a dozen forms, some or all created in the 90s, no queries...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
