Access 2013 or 2010?

1,277 Recognized Expert Top Contributor
I need to buy Access 2010 for a current project. Is there any reason to not just go all the way to 2013 instead? I currently use 2007 and 2003 versions.

I use Access 2010 and I love it much more than 2007. I have done a little in 2013, but not enough to know if I like it or not. 2013 has more cloud integration, but I don't use that.

I think your first stop should be here:
Discontinued features and modified functionality in Access 2013

It also appears that they have messed with the interface again... maybe not to the extreme as with ACC2003 > ACC2007; none-the-less, some changes.

The only real positive I see here is the move away from the JET/ACE to SQL/AzureSQL.

I would set up a proving PC, download the trial version first and play with the trial before purchasing.

Thank you both. For now I'll go with 2010. That link is very helpful. Lots of useful things deprecated in 2013.

My company has recently been upgrading all operating systems to Windows 7 and all MS Office products to the 2010 version. I've managed to update/modify all code to run on both the .mdb and .accdb platform so that all business functions are operating normally. The one thing I can't seem to get to work normally is the screen painting in the .accdb environment. The general gist is this: When a process begins, a custom progress bar becomes...

I am trying to create a database for a new magazine company. I tried to break down all of the possible table parts and use the relationships properly. I am pretty new at this. I tried to make a subscriber invoice table that would let me enter all of the information in one place and keep it split in separate tables. Some thing is not working. I am attaching the database

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
