I created a program using C#, which iterates files and displays these in a
listview. However I would like to filter the files, so files won't be
displayed if the current user hasn't "read access"

I am using the ShellExecute feature in VBA to print files with various
types. This feature will open documents in its native format and print
them before closing out. I am using the MS Access "DoCmd.OpenReport"
command to print document separators containing the file name and path
of the next document (slipsheet).

Hi,
I need to write a small Windows application (console or forms) (for Windows
XP SP2 & Windows Server 2003), which will check a folder for the presence of
some files, and if they exist, it will zip the files using the inbuilt
Compressed files functionality of Windows (same as the Context Menu -Send to
-Compressed (zipped) folder).
I cannot use any other third party tool (like winzip etc.) because of some
non-technical constraints.

Thanks! Using a higher xlrd version did the trick! Regarding your other remarks:
-yep, input files with multiple sheets don't work yet. I kinda repressed that ;-) Spss outputs only single-sheet xls files, but I agree it's nicer if the programs works in other cases too.
-and no, I don't intend to use data fields. Wouldn't it be easier to convert those to string values if I ever came across them?

Is there a simple way to print files stored in an OLE field using the Windows associated programs? So if it is a .doc, it will open Word, print it and close. PDF opens Acrobat Reader, prints and closes, etc.
It would just like right clicking on a file in Windows Explorer & hitting Print. I just need to do it programmatically on files stored in an OLE field.
Is it possible?

I have lots of files that need monthly cleanup done on them. These files are located in many different directories on the same server. Some example files names are C1234.idx, C1111.idx, C8693.idx, etc....ALL the files will start with either an 'C' or an 'L' and then contain 4 random numbers followed by an extension of either .idx, or .dat. The problem is that there are also files named CTFIX.idx, Ctons.idx, etc...So I can not use:
