Any way to populate table fields by dragging down values from previous record?

26 New Member
I need to know if in Access 2007 tables or datasheets, or some other "view" if there is a way to enter a value in the field for one record and then dragging down that value into the same field for other records. Like you can drag down cell values in Excel to populate cells in other rows.

In Form view you can set the DefaultValue property of the relevant control in the AfterUpdate event procedure of the form. Otherwise, it's not really Excel. There are some situations where a multi-line paste will work, but many where it won't. Not something to rely on.

I new it was a long-shot. I was just hoping that there may be something you would know about that I didn't (which there is much of regarding Access). Thanks for the info!

I hope you can help me. I posted this in the microsoft sql server newsgroup a few days ago and got no response so I thought I'd try here. If I can provide any clarification I'll be glad to do so. I'm trying to calculate a column based on the value of the previous record. I'm not very experienced with SQL-Server. I'm using the following table: CREATE TABLE tblPayment (

My Problem: I have created a database here at work that is exhibiting some very strange behaviour. Essentially the database is structured in a manner where one table is a master record table (tbl_MainRegister) providing a unique identifier for documents and a means for identifying the docuement type. There are then 4 additional tables (tbl_Meetings, tbl_Documents, tbl_Project, tbl_Correspondence) which store the document details.

I have a query, qryAppend30DayOld260ies that attempts to append records to tblCorrespondence. When run, it can result in any of the following: appending no records, appending 1 record or appending many records. Two of the target fields in tblCorrespondence receiving values in the append operation are and . For any given VehicleJobID value, I want only ONE record in correspondence table to have an value of "01". This query blindly appends...

First, let me say that I'm brand new to Access, so please assume I know nothing. I've got a table (210k records) of deer harvest information. Date of harvest is one of many variables in the table. Since our season runs from the first SAT in October to 31 January, valid harvest dates for 2005-06 were 4 Oct 2005 to 31 Jan 2006. Many records will have missing or dates outside of this range. Date is needed to assign each dead deer to a...

Greetings, I've been using this site for lots of access help in the past, and it's very helpful! I have a new complexity for you all. Reworking a form to record 70-80 years of oil production on multiple leases, which have multiple wells within them. Most wells can fit on one printed page (one record), but in the case of overspill, we want to do the following: -Move to a new record and auto fill the LeaseName, LeaseNumber, Operator,...

Microsoft Access I am a newbee, so this may be a stupid question, but I will ask anyway. I have a form "Month1" and a linked subform "Monthlystuff" linked by a textfield "Month" and I placed in code that allows me to autopopulate the the next record with fields that remain the same from month to month. However, when I do this the linked field "Month" auto populates as well and when i go to change information on the record the previous'...

A client wants a press of the Enter key in a field on a continuous form to grab the value of that field from the previous record. But if they have typed a value and then hit Enter it shouldn't. I have tried a few ways but the main problem is that after typing a value and hitting Enter it still grabs the value from the previous record, trashing the value they just typed. Any ideas from you lateral thinkers.

I need to, ultimately, create a flatfile for exporting insurance information to a third-party vendor. Each individual is to have no more than 1 line per file, which contains their coverage information, if any, on 4 different type of insurance. What i need is for 1 field in a table to determine the output for multiple fields in the flatfile. I think the best way to convey what i am trying accomplish is by; If TABLE.FIELD1 = XXX then ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
