Why would database in Access Runtime point to incorrect directory?

I have created a database on my computer which has the full application of Access 2007. The users I want to have access will be using Access runtime 2007.

I have split the database and copied both frontend and backend files to the shared drive but, the frontend file keeps pointing back to the original location the database was created in when viewed in runtime. When I go to view it on the shared drive it appears at location of the shared drive. How can I redirect the path for the file in the shared drive so I can view the information in runtime?

Sounds like you split the DB prior to moving it to the shared drive. You'll have to redirect the front end(s) to the shared drive.

Open the front end
Right click on any linked table
Select the 'Linked table manager' option (or something of that sort)
Remap to the shared drive

I did split the database before placing it on the shared drive. I attempted to link the tables and remap as you suggested but, I am still getting the same message. Would I be able to bring the database back together then re-split on the share drive? Help... I am no expert by any means but, I am trying my best to make this work.

Can you post the runtime code? You should find it by looking at the properties of the runtime file.

Looking at the msaccess.exe I see normal .exe properties…
Looking at your database files I see normal data file properties…
Because I cannot open the bases, I cannot see any access properties

Normally if you right click on the runtime file and go to properties it will give you code for the running runtime file including path to the backend.

I am trying to setup a solution that will include a client which will access a database via remoting calls. I am hosting my remoting project in IIS, and am using Windows Integrated security. Since some of my users will be coming in through the web (from non-trusted domains) to log into their local domain account, I am trying to implement a login screen which will gather the user data (login, pwd, domain). The login screen will be...

I was under the impression that if I package my software with Access Runtime and made certain that end-users opened my program with the "/runtime switch", they would be using MY installed version of runtime instead of any Access Runtime that came with any older version of Access on their machine. Is this correct? If not, is there any way I can program my software to make certain that they are using the separate version of Access that I...

Hi, I have a secured database that runs fine on the computer the database is installed on. I have several workstations with access runtime installed that also need access to the database. Access runtime runs fine when accessing an unsecured version of the database. However once the database was secured it generates a runtime error after asking for the user and password and won't open. The shortcut to the secured database is: "path...

In my applikation I have images in a separate folder and those images are linked to the database by using code. One customer who is running the applikation by using Access Runtime claims that the imigaes want show unless MS Office is installed on the client. He has the applikations two databases (object.mdb and tables.mdb) on a server and only Access Runtime on the client. As I understand Access Runtime is totally independent of any other...

Hi Everybody I have an Access 2000 db with a setup for inserting images in records. I am using the image path only with the actual images stored elswhere on the hard disc. This works perfectly well with all of Microsoft developer installed on the system. The problem is when I give this to a user who has NOT got Access 2000, ie I just give him an installation that installs a runtime, my frontend/backend and images, an error says that...

Wize ones: I created an Access database for a local telco that is split into a front and back end. I would like to distribute the Access runtime along with the front end. When I use the front end with the Access runtime, I must confirm every time an action query runs from VBA. I know that in the full version of Access, a user can opt to turn off notification every time an action query runs from VBA. Can this option be exercised using...

We have a citrix server that users will be signing into from a remote location. One application is an Access database. Right now, lan users are using the Access 2003 runtime to run these applications. Installing the runtime on the citrix server(s) isn't a big deal. The catch is, I want to install a copy of the full version of Access so that I can sign in and do some developing if I have to. Is it possible to have both the runtime...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
