project contains a missing or broken reference to the file 'OWC10.DLL' version 1.2

26 New Member
Hi All,

Both of my mdbs were developed in Access 2002.

Till yesterday two of the mdbs were opening and working fine.

But today one of the mdbs is throwing the error below when the user tried opening it.

Error message 1
Your Microsoft Access database or project contains a missing or broken reference to the file <filename>.

* To ensure that your database or project works properly, you must fix this reference.

* To learn how to fix this reference, click Help.

He is using Access 2003. suggested him to Uncheck the reference for OWC10.DLL OR select Microsoft Office Web Components 11.0 from references(in case it's Access 2003).He couldn't find OWC10.DLL and also found only Microsoft Office Web Components function library.checked that , but kept receiving error message 2as :--

Error message 2
Compile Error:
Can't find project or library

How is the other mdb running fine.It was also built in 2002 , and running fine in 2003 ,Access. If there's a reference issue, the other mdb also shouldn't have run right? It also requires the same references.

Thanks in advance !!

The references can cause trouble when they can't be resolved. Using a higher or lower version normally solves the problem, but when that's not the case you should add the proper .dll to the System library of the computer the databse is running on.

In my windows application, my project has references to many DLL's. What I want to do is create an "about" form with a version info button. On clicking this button, the user will be able to view a list of all the referenced DLL's along with their respective version numbers. Being a real rookie, I don't really know where to start. Can anyone give me some idea's on how to do this.

Hello Does anyone know what owc10.dll does? In Access XP is a reference by default to owc10.dll. I know is 'Office Web Components' or something like this. I'm asking this because after applying Office XP SP3 on the development computer and deploying to users of Access XP without SP3 applied, or users of Access 2003 without SP1, there are some errors like

I need to go over all the code in this file and I can't seem to find out...

I'm trying to call the Microsoft image-processing function AlphaBlend() in my Visual C++ application. My software compiles okay, but gets a link error (details below) that says it cannot find the symbol AlphaBlend(). I'm calling dozens of other Microsoft bitmap and imagery functions without error. The MS documentation says that AlphaBlend is in msimg32.dll. I have this file, in folder C:\Windows\System32.

I have written a VB.NET DLL that is called by a third party program. If I make any changes in the DLL and then try to replace my DLL file the third party program will abort, saying that the DLL version number does not match to the DLL that it was linked against. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
