Dear all
I'm well into designing my first ever Access database which is
currently about 13 megs (.mdb file) containing data on progress and
attainment of approx 500 students. What I want to know is this: to
make the database available to approx. 30 colleagues on the school
intranet, do I need to change it into a .mdw file and give everyone a
login name and password, or can multiple users open the .mdb file at
the same time? I'm on...

Most of my Access database implementations have been fairly small in
terms of data volume and number of concurrent users. So far I haven't
had performance issues to worry about. <knock on wood>
But I am curious about what techniques those of you who have done higher
volume access implementations use to ensure high performance of the
database in a multi-user 100mbps LAN implementation???
Thanks

Hello there.
I have a question somewhat related to this topic, and I don't know
where else to go. I hope somebody can help. I've created a database
in access, that I'd like to share with less than 10 users. I'd like
each user to see only some of the records in the database. So for
example, if I have eight users in eight countries, I want each of them
to only see information for their country.
I was told that the easiest way to do...

I need MS Access to automatically create reports/subreports based on
specific criteria. I am building a database in Access 2003 with
different locations/sites. I have the "sites" table created containing
site info, including an empty field for "date". I also have a report
format already created displaying the site info. I need Access to ask
the user for a date, calculate three additional dates using the entered
date (adding or subtracting...

My establishment has about 20 ms access db's that will be converted over (see
subject).
When we pull all the BE's over to SQL and the FE's on Sharepoint (.net)
surely we don't have to change every user face, we should be able to use the
same FE in as before as now on Sharepoint?

My company currently has about 20-25 Ms Access Database that they want to
replace the FE with .net and the BE on SQL.
This will be done using Visual Studio 2005. Once the FE is converted to .net
and the BE is SQL they all will be accessed through our intranet (sharepoint).
I work in Ms Access and intermediate at VBA and just learing SQL through the
ENTERPRISE MANAGER SCREEN.

My company uses coldfusion to create web applications and we currently
are using TOAD as a front end to creating SQL queries. I was wondering
how is Access compared to TOAD on its ability to provide a front end to
an Oracle database
Also, does Access have the ability to create table Aliases for whenever
you create a query in design view and then view it in SQL view (or does
it have the ability to assign table aliases at all)

Hi,
I am experimenting with using a back-end for a database I am designing.
Three of the tables in the back-end contain information that is (currently) updated on a record by record basis. I am wondering, given that there are so many calculations and insert/update queries, whether it would be "better" to create three temp tables in the front end, store the data in the temp tables during the calculation, and then move it over in one step. ...

I am developing an Access 2007 database using the Assets template in a dev directory on our server. It's split and the back end data portion of the database is stored in the same directory as the front end. The front end has customized reports, queries, forms that I need preserved across future versions. This front end and back end will need to be moved to another server when we want to 'go live' with this database so users over a network can...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
