I'm sorry Christoph. You will need to explain this a lot better if anyone is to help you. You will need to give relevant information. Unfortunately your screenshots are too small and lacking in detail to help.

Dear Neopa,

Thanks for gettingback to me, sorry about the screenprints. I did not realize the small limit allowed.

Perhaps I can send you a copy of DB in packed in "rar" about 600KB

My problem is to use the criteria looked up by a combo or list box, in my example the CUSTID to the query which filters the records to be printed for invoices not paid in the statement report.

I alsotried the lookup facility in the properties box of the query grid offfered in the query facilities, and it does give me a list of the fields in the table, but not the customer ID, only shows all fileds of the table in the query grid and if I click on any nothing happens

I looked up on the help in Access but they only talk about combo and list boxes to be used in forms and nowhere explaine how the selected value can be transferred into the selection criteria of a query?

I also looked on the web but the answers there are all referring to VBA code or SQL code and I am a basic user and only know how to use the expression builder facility offered.

I will try and pt the screen dumps into a word doc and then zip it, hopefully it will reach you large enogh to make sense

I also try and attach a sample DB the cust id I use to create the ALL unpaid statement is 12

Thank you very much

Regards

Christoph

PS perhaps I can e-mail you directly, but I am not sure if that would compromise the rules? Please let me know

@Christoph
Swapping email details is perfectly acceptable as long as it's done away from the public forum.

I'm not happy to share that information (certainly at this time) though. I find that problems emailed are generally such that would expect me to devote inordinate amounts of my time (not always, but generally). Furthermore, they encourage posters to get away without explaining their problem properly, in the belief that it isn't necessary (as I already have their project available). So I'm not a big fan of that, though I may decide to ask for it sometimes when communication becomes too difficult.

Anyway, for this particular problem, I suggest you review a tutorial I set up a while back (Example Filtering on a Form) as an introduction to such filtering issues. It comes with an example database (very basic) that you can download and experiment with.

Have a play, then let us know here how you got on and if you need further help.

Gentlemen, I'm currently in the process of designing a language which will be used to specify sets of files on a WebDAV server, encoded in a URL. The aims of the language are to (in no particular order): * Be concise, aesthetic and easy to type * Be as similar as possible to existing query languages * Allow for (nested) boolean operations * Be cross-platform (so don't include any characters which can't be used in filenames on *NIX or...

I'm trying to create a wizardlike interface using a couple listboxes. I know you've seen it before. You double click on an item in one listbox and it "moves" it to the other. I used to approach it with a table and within the table a yes/no field would determine which box it would be in. An Update statement would be fired changing it from yes to no or vice versa and then refreshing the listboxes. This doesn't seem to scale very well as...

I'm currently building a form (called frmReports) to set the criteria for a query, but I'm having some trouble with syntax and hope that one of the guru's here can help me achieve what I'm do. First troublesome variable: I would like to sort records by numbers of employees (numeric data type) into three groups: 1-250, 251-2000, and 2000+. Based on three check-boxes on my form (which we'll call Box1, Box2, and Box3), I've tried to use...

Hello, I have a continuous form with a combo box inside. From the combo box I can pick some values which, by the "after-update" event, change some other combo box values determined by a query. (i.e. I have some tree names and depending on what tree I pick on the other combo box I can pick its fruits and other properties) Now, mine is a continous form, and whenever I pick a value from the first combo box the second one correctly shows...

Hi- I'm creating a database of music bands with their cds and songs. I'm trying to program an SQL statement so that I can enter a string of text in a textbox, press the 'Enter' key, and have it return the associated records to a listbox. Once the listbox has the records, I want to select a record, which will open a form associated with the selected record in the listbox.

I have a simple multiselect listbox with a rowsorce of MemberID, MemberName, SendLetter. SendLetter is a Yes/No field. What is the code to set SendLetter to Yes when the user selects MemberName? I want to do this as the selections are being made not after-the-fact after all selections are made. Thanks! Sally

Hi, I have a list box that displays 2 columns. Behind it sits a query with five columns. These are Column1 (DOB), column2 (a concatenated string of Surname Forname, Title), Column3 (Surname), column4 (Forename) and column5 (title). Columns 3,4 and 5 are not shown in the list box only the first two. DOB Name: &" "&&", "&

Hi, I have a query that is pulling info from 7 tables (all necessary). The only criteria I have specified is for the invoice date field which is as follows: Field: INVCDAT Table: dbo_INIH Criteria: >=DateSerial(Year(Date()), 1, 1) This works fine. When I run the query like this it takes less than 20 seconds. However, when I add criteria to my transaction code field so that it's equal to the code "TRN", access has a panic attack and...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
