copy data from one database to another database

1 New Member
I run an Access-based application that uses main1.mdb (updated weekly). However going forward I would only receive main2.mdb file with different structure. My question is how I can copy data from main2.mdb file into main1.mdb. The main1.mdb had 5 tables and main2.mdb has 9 tables (5 tables similar to ones in main1.mdb + 4 new tables). The good news is that I don’t need to use the data from 4 new tables. However few columns have been renamed or dropped in the original 5 tables.

I have posted 2 tables with the understanding that if someone can help me with these 2 tables, I can make relevant changes to other three tables. As you can from the following example that there is a one-to-one relation between Administrative and Access table (with column names renamed)

Main1.mdb

Administrative
AdCode
AdName
AdDesc
AdDate

Access
AcNum
AcDate

Main2.mdb

Administrative
Ad_Id
Ad_Name
Ad_Bit (New Column Name)
Ad_Desc
Ad_Date

Access
Ac_Num
Ac_Date

Any help will be highly appreciated.

I have read your question a few times and I'm still confused at what you are asking. Are you wanting to simply send data from tables in Main2 to tables in Main1? Are you wanting to do this one time... or do you need a code solution so that you can run updates periodically?

I'm not completely sure I know what you want, but if you are simply trying to transfer data from one MDB to another. A simple way, would be to just link the tables from Main2.mdb in Main1.mdb. Then just create a simple query that takes from Ac_Num and insert into AcNum..etc.Hope this helps.

Does anyone knows how to copy database from one server to another. By copying I mean literally everything, not just the database. I know we can dump the database from one server then reload it to another one. However, I have a specific need for this and here is my problem: I have my development server as of RedHat 9.0 and I install the combination of LAMPS (Linux+Apache+MySQL+PHP+SSL). I configure it works perfectly on my development...

Hello All, I¡¯m using a context menu associated with some pictureboxes to provide copy/paste functionality. Copying the image to the clipboard was easy. But pasting an image from the clipboard is proving to be more difficult. These pictureboxes are bound to an AccessDB. If the user wants to add an image, they select an image using an OpenFileDialog: Dim result As DialogResult = Pic_Sel.ShowDialog() If (result = DialogResult.OK) Then

Hello, How to make sure COPY TO writes the table lines to the file in the same order they were inserted? I'm producing html pages in pl/pgsql and using COPY TO to write then to file. Occasionaly, about once in 7 or 9, the lines are copied to the file out of the order they were inserted in the table. The lines have one only column of the type text.

I hope someone can help...I feel like I'm walking in the dark without a flashlight (I'm NOT a programmer but have been called to task to do some work in Access that is above my head). I have code that will successfully copy a record and append the information to a new record in the same table (parent table) within a form. However, there are related child tables with primary keys (set to Autonumber) stored in sub-forms. That information...

Hi; I thought I would rephrase a question I asked in another post to more quickly get to the heart of the matter. My apologies for anyone who is offended by what appears to be a repetition. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
