Access macro listing/catalog

34 New Member
Is there a way of producing a printout of an Access macro (or all macros in the database) using VBA, ideally one line per command for documentation purposes?

Many thanks for any help.

Have a look at the Documenter feature.

Tools / Analyse / Documenter

This should give you everything you need without needing to resort to programming anything.

Thanks, but when using that option, it produces a listing with approx. 4 entries per page, and not very readable at that.

Can you attach an example. You can produce it in RTF for opening in Word, but either format will do to look at.

My recollection is that there are a whole bunch of options available. It may just be a case of choosing the right ones.

I've uploaded a .txt file, becauseof size restrictions here. I've also had to remove a lot of the spacing in between the entries. The entries represent one pageful which is produced - I only wanted the coding bits, i.e. commands, operands, parameters, etc.

I've found coding previously which allowed access to queries (QueryDef/qdf, etc.) so I'm hoping to find something similar for macros.

If the documenter is not good for you, then we should have a look at what's available in code.

CodeProject. All Macros & CurrentProject. AllMacros both give access to the name and certain basic properties. Neither seems to have the attributes you would require (the design of the macro itself). If I find anything else I'll post.

In Access 95/97 I used to be able to create pull down menus (File,Edit ...) from a macro. It seems there used to be some wizard for that. However in Access 2000 it seems you have to build your menus by customizing a toolbar. With this method you have to create a separate macro for every single menu and sub menu. The old method would allow me to include several menus (File/ print/ page setup ...) all within one macro. Now it seems I...

Hi there Have a database, where front-end interface allows user to select a ms access database. From there, standard tables are linked. Routine, that creates a spreadsheet, for each table a separate sheet within spreadsheet is created. Particular fields are selected. User requires fields to be auto-fitted. Hi everyone I was hoping someone might be able to help me with this. I'm just starting to try to work with MS Access tables through VB.net. In Access I can take an existing table and add a new field with the type AutoNumber. I can then set this up as a key. Then if I go into the table I will see sequential numbers have been inserted into that field for me. Can I do this through VB.net I'd appreciate any help or alternative suggestions...

I have a table that has always been in my back-end of this application. The table is getting quite large, and, on top of that, we lose records out of this table. They just dissappear! No rhyme or reason to it. I imported the table into SQL, and re-linked it back into the front end of the application. All the fields show. I had to pick a primary key, which is fine, it's a text field (nvarchar 255), and it is indeed a unique value. ...

I have created a catalog in Publisher 2K, and used the mail merge to access the fields in my existing access 2000 database. The merge works, but only accesses one record at a time. It will print the entire catalog with the same entry in every position, and then print another catalog for each database entry. Under Word 2k there is a <<nextrecord>> command, but it doesn't appear to function under Publisher. The Microsoft website has led me to...

I'm hoping that someone here can give me some assistance with a database I'm trying to set up. My skills in Access are fairly basic, and I'm trying to skill up, but some of the stuff is a little opaque. I'm trying to put some data I've got on paper into Access. Recently, I got together with some other people marketing organic produce and offered to do some marketing for us on a coop basis in the city.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
