Auto number field is not working

I am dealing with 3 tables. Here is a brief meta data
Master table: GrantInformatio n
Grant Index Autonumber PK
Activity Code text
Status text
Likewise 35 more fields

Child table: tblProjectDeliv erables
DeliverableId Autonumber Not Indexed PK
Grant Index Number Indexed Required PK

Table: tblDeliverables
DeliverableId Number Required
PerformanceMeas ure Text
ChkboxValue Yes/No
TextboxValue number
GoalValue number
see the attachment for the relationship

Conditions:
1)One GrantIndex can have multiple Deliverables
2)one Deliverable is made from combination of more than 85 performance measures.

Performance measures have chkbox value, textbox value (number) and goal value(number)

My question:

My main form has several tabs. One of them is Project Deliverables.
When I click on that tab,
1) I want a subform to be opened for data entry to tblDeliverables .(bound to tblDeliverables where user can select yes/no option and enter the actual number with consideration of goal number)
2)At the same time the DeliverableId from tblProjectDeliv erables table should also be increased automatically and reflect on the subform bound to tblDeliverables .

What I have done!!
I have subform bound to tblProjectDeliv erables within main form bound to Grant Information table. There is a subform bound to tblDeliverables withing the subform bound to tblProjectDeliv erables.
Basically it is subform within the subform .

GrantIndex number is automatically populated in table tblProjectDeliv erables but the DeliverableId field is not automatically incremented although it is a autonumber field.

Let me know if you want any further clarification. Please help me on this. PLEASE!!

There is no question here.

You simply state (as your two questions) what you want.

What is the question?

Hi All, I have a form with an auto number field displayed. The field looks great except when the user is entering a new record. The field then has the text "auto number" in it. Is there a better way to display this field. I thought the number assigned to this record should be displayed while the user is entering the rest of the form data. Thanks, Paula

I am trying to store information into a table that has an auto increment field. There is currently no data in the table. Using the code below I cannot insert data into the table. I get an error telling me that "Number of query values and destination fields are not the same." If I add a value for the auto increment field to the SQL String the data is entered into the table with no problems but obviously the auto increment field now...

Hello- I have a database that uses an auto number field type that goes out of sync periodically. My customer gets a "cannot add record, number already in use" error message. I dump the records into a new table starting at auto number 1, and sequentially up to about 20,000. Everything is fine for a month or two, then the auto number field goes berserk again. Do you have any ideas what the client may be doing to cause this problem, or is...

Before I started to create table, etc to track unique form field record number assigments I thought I'd check to see if there is now a better way to do this in .NET. I have a parent form (table) and children form (table). Relationship equals one to many. I'd like to auto number the fields accordingly and traditionaly I assign a unique number based on a table value that I retrieve + 1. i.e. Parent record field value = 1 Children record...

I am trying to make a form where users can modify infromation in a 'notes' table. The notes table has three keys, PersonID, ClientID, and NoteID, the data Type for each of these is "text". I have everything working fine if the users modify an existing note, however I...

The auto generated number which should display like this – “081-2008-00001” “081-2008-00002” “081-2008-00003” and so on. The first 3 characters of those numbers are pulled in from one of the field, namely “Building #”. The second set of 4 digit numbers are nothing but the current year which gets pulled from another field namely...

Hello Everyone I would be grateful if someone could help me with the automatic increment of a field on my subform called ‘Test_SrNo’. I am Using Microsoft Office 2000. The auto entry of the incremented number would help to reduce errors and make data entry simpler. The next record in the Test_SrNo field should not have any entry in it until the text insertion point enters the Test_SrNo field. Example: If the last test serial number...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
