I need to leave a field null, but i also need that field have a
foreign key. But even after creating this table with the field with
not "not-null", if i add the foreign key, i can't leave it blank
(NULL).
Im using mysql 4.0.20a and all my tables as set to InnoDB.

that's my problem.. i hve a pege where users can uload a text file and leave
an e-mail address.. when upload finished.. my server start working on this
file.. and later sends he resultin file to the user's email. Now.. i've
tried this ...but my user have to stay on that page with his browser or the
server stops working.... how can i do to let the user leave the page just
when upload is ok.. and have my serer coninue working.. on user's...

Hi,
I have a form with many textbox on it. Behind this(so to speak), is a class,
and each time the user changes the value of the text box I want to update
the relevant property of the class.
I have the class.property = txtbox.text set on the textbox.leave event, and
this works fine, except for when the user clicks on my toolbar button to
save the details to the database.

I am currently implementing a singleton pattern for accessing a
database. Is it advisable to close the connection to the database at
all -- thus leaving it open or should it be closed. If closed, when
should I it close it -- after the execution of the each command to the
database? If leaving open, what impacts does it have. Imagining that
it is one connection to the database.

I have a usercontrol with code in the "leave" event which updates the final
data back into a database.
This works fine except if I have a default "accept" button on a form and
invoke it by pressing the ENTER key on the keyboard. In this case, it would
appear that whilst the code on the button is executing and therefore
presumably the button actually has focus, the leave event in the user
control is not fired.
Should I be interfacing...

I would like to pull a random or alphabetical result on the home page
of a site and leave that same result on there for one week. The
closest example I have found online is Random Quote Version 3.1 which
pulls from a text file rather than the database. I cannot mod it to
pull from my db and also it relies on cookies, so I would assume it
would pull a different random item for each computer and then keep
that item on the page for whatever...

foreign key constraints.
I am migrating a MS-Access database that didnt have any relations setup
properly, consequently there are gazillions of orphaned tuples.
If I was to leave these as they were and set constraints with NO CHECK is it

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
